Whether your child is gifted and talented or could use some special attention, Southwest Florida schools offer many educational options, from elementary school right on up through college levels.
The schools in both Collier and Lee counties offer pre-kindergarten grade levels. Collier County has seven junior high/middle schools with an average population of just over 1,000 students per school. In Lee County, there are 12 junior high/middle schools with an average of just under 1,000 students per school. The high schools in Collier County average about 1,500 students while the high schools in Lee County average about 1,630.
Student-teacher ratios in Collier run at close to 19 percent while the same ratios in Lee are about 21 percent. Class sizes in the first grade are 22 students per class in Collier and 23 in Lee. For eighth graders, class sizes remain about the same with 23 students per class in both Collier and Lee. For high school English, classes run at 19.5 students each in Collier and about 21 students in Lee.
Approximately 93.6 percent of high school seniors in both counties receive their diplomas. On average, 31.5 percent of graduates in Collier County and 34 percent of graduates in Lee County plan to attend a four-year college or university. Just over 30 percent of Collier seniors and about 27 percent of Lee County seniors plan to attend a two-year or junior college.
The average SAT scores in Collier high school seniors are 521 on the math portion and 542.5 on the verbal portion. Lee high school seniors average 502 on the math portion and 523 on the verbal portion.
