By: Editorial Staff

Meier to Move to Atlanta

Robert A. Meier has been named president of Northern Trust, FSB - Georgia at Atlanta; Northern Trust's newest office in the system.

The Georgia-based financial institution of Legacy South is presently being acquired by Northern Trust. Northern's move into the Atlanta market has been long anticipated and will initially provide the region with trust and investment management services, with the projection of providing full service banking in early 2005. Meier is relocating to Atlanta this month to fill his role as president of the bank.

Meier joined Northern Trust's Bonita Springs office in 1997 as vice president, specializing in trust and financial planning. He came to Northern with six years of banking experience in southwest Florida ranging from commercial lending to trust administration.

Originally from Brooksville, Fla., he is a graduate of Wake Forest University where he majored in economics. Meier retired as a commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve. His service experience included a three year exchange tour with the Royal Air Force in Scotland and a combat tour during Operation Desert Storm.

Meier is a graduate of the American Bankers Association National Trust School at Northwestern University. While residing in south Fort Myers, he served on the boards of the YMCA and the United Way of Lee County.
