Recycling Works

Lauren Bernaldo
At 24, Marc Devisse has a lot of energy—green energy. The co-founder of Tri-Town Construction, which is a member of the Florida Green Building Coalition, is starting a new company called Recycling Matters. It would allow businesses to buy and advertise on a recycling container that would be placed in high-traffic areas, such as gas stations and apartment complexes.

“Imagine a realtor advertising on a bin in an apartment complex. When people are ready to buy a home, whose name do you think they’ll remember?” he says.

Devisse and partner Keoni Enlow started Tri-Town in 2006, focusing on remodeling, condo maintenance and new-home construction. Tri-Town builds energy-efficient houses featuring low water use, native landscaping, disaster resistance and excellent indoor air quality. “Part of our mission is to be No. 1 in construction while protecting the environment.”

While Devisse’s business is doing its part, he believes each one of us also can play a role. “When you pull into a gas station and clean out the cans and bottles from your car, you throw them away. I want people to recycle them.”

Devisse is still working out the details of who would pick up the Recycling Matters bins and how often, but he says businesses are interested in the idea.

“Investors are sold [on it] because of the good it will do for the community. Once we get it up and running in Lee and Collier counties, the possibilities are endless,” he says.
