Ironman Jack All the marathons and triathlons he’s competed in didn’t prepare Jack Voth for the thrill of completing the Ford Ironman World Championship in October. The 46-year-old co-owner of The Client Server Inc. spent up to 20 hours a week swimming, bicycling and running in the summer heat, training for the 140.6-mile race in Hawaii. He finished in 14 hours, seven minutes, despite an electrolyte deficiency.

With about six miles to go, he had leg cramps, “but by the time you hit mile 24 you can hear them at the end and you’re running on pure adrenaline,” Voth says. Along the final stretch, the crowds were six-deep, including professional athletes who finished hours earlier, cheering and high-fiving the competitors. His wife and daughter were there, too, to hear the announcement: “Jack Voth, you are an Ironman.”

“I came across the finish line and we all three started crying,” he says. Weeks later, he was sporting a new Ironman tattoo and debating when to take off his official bracelet. “I’m going to milk it for all it’s worth.”
