THE COWBOY WAY For the past decade, Bob Koenig has traveled west several times a year to take a seat at Boone Pickens Stadium, where he dons a bright orange Cowboys jersey and keeps a watchful eye on the field. Why so many visits over so many years for Koenig, senior vice president of Manhattan Kraft Construction Co.? Because all of his sons—Doug, David and Daniel—chose to play football for Oklahoma State University, a Division One school.

Flying or driving, Koenig and his wife, Cindy, attend on average four home games a year, plus the bowl game, to root on their boys. And what did the proud parents do to help the boys achieve such success? "Obviously they got the big size from me; that definitely wasn’t an accident," Koenig says jokingly. Beyond their size, his kids always could count on plenty of support. "For us, it’s about being positive with them and encouragement, not critiquing them."
