TIN CITY BOARDWALK RESTORATION COMPLETE
The historic Tin City Waterfront boardwalk, where Pure Florida is docked, has reopened after damage from Hurricane Irma forced its closure. Turrell, Hall and Associates assisted in the restoration.
The updated boardwalk includes more user-friendly walkways, covered seating, and a pedestrian connection under U.S. 41, allowing people to walk along the waterfront uninterrupted between Tin City, Bayfront and beyond.
The restoration project took 18 months of work, since the seawall that supports the boardwalk and restaurants was severely damaged in the storm and needed to be rebuilt. The new boardwalk is made from the dense hardwood Ipe, the same wood used at the Naples City Dock, Naples Pier and the Gordon River Greenway. For more information, visit http://www.tin-city.com.

LPG PRIMARY CARE CLINICS NAMED ASTHMA-FRIENDLY
Four Lee Physician Group (LPG) primary care clinics became the first pediatric outpatient offices in the state designated platinum-level “Asthma-Friendly” by the Florida Asthma Coalition (FAC), according to a news release. This is the highest level of recognition the coalition awards and highlights outpatient centers that create a safe and healthy environment for patients with asthma.
Pediatric clinics in Bonita Springs, Cape Coral, Fort Myers and Lehigh Acres each had to meet specific criteria that were designed to improve asthma care and outcomes for patients.
Last year, the FAC designated Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida as the fourth “Asthma-Friendly” hospital in the state. Lee Health already helped day care centers and school districts throughout Southwest Florida work toward Asthma-Friendly designation.
The Lee Health Child Development Centers were also honored at the FAC 2019 Summit, when they received the platinum-level “Asthma-Friendly” recognition for Child Care Centers. To learn more about the Asthma-Friendly recognition, visit https://tinyurl.com/GCHAsthma.
