EMERGENCY BRIDGE LOAN PROGRAM OPEN TO SMALL BUSINESSES

Gov. Rick Scott has directed the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) to activate the Florida Small Business Emergency Bridge Loan Program to support small businesses that continue to be affected by the Lake Okeechobee algal bloom and impacts from naturally occurring red tide. The bridge loan program, managed by DEO, provides short-term, interest-free loans to small businesses experiencing physical or economic loss. Small businesses impacted by blue-green algae in Glades, Hendry, Lee, Martin, Okeechobee, Palm Beach, and St. Lucie counties may apply for assistance through Sept. 7. Small businesses impacted by the red tide in Charlotte, Collier, Hillsborough, Lee, Manatee, Pinellas and Sarasota counties may apply for assistance through Oct. 12. SWFL FIRMS AMONG TOP COMPANIES TO WATCH LIST

Several Southwest Florida companies have been named to the 2018 Florida Companies to Watch Finalists list by GrowFL, in association with Edward Lowe Foundation. They are: ArgoTrak and Benseron Hospitality in Naples; AXI International, D3 Glass LLC and Vectra Digital in Fort Myers; Oasis Senior Advisors in Bonita Springs; Galaxy America Inc. in Port Charlotte; and Integrity Employee Leasing in Punta Gorda. Florida Companies to Watch celebrates growing second-stage companies headquartered in Florida. Companies from across the state and all industries may participate. Selection is based on steady growth in employee counts and revenue as well as strength in leadership, corporate culture, community support and philanthropy, innovation in management or technology, or other factors that contribute to an outstanding organization. NABOR MAGAZINE WINS EIGHT FMA AWARDS

The Naples Area Board of REALTORS (NABOR) member publication, the Naples REALTOR magazine, received eight awards of excellence at the Florida Magazine Association's (FMA) Charlie Awards gala during the Florida Media Conference, held Aug. 10 in Orlando. The honors included three Charlies (first place), four silvers and a bronze. The FMA is the largest state magazine association in the nation and has hosted the Charlie Awards competition every year since 1957. More than 600 entries vied for bronze, silver and the top award, the Charlie. Entries were judged by a panel of out-of-state magazine and newspaper publishing professionals. The Naples REALTOR magazine is a quarterly trade publication with a distribution of more than 6,000 to NABOR members. It is produced in collaboration with its publisher Gulfshore Life. This member publication showcases the NABOR members and events, presents real estate industry overviews, and features stories of critical importance to real estate professionals.

CCMS MEMBERS EARN STATE LEADERSHIP ROLES

Leaders of Collier County Medical Society (CCMS) recently assumed state leadership roles during the Florida Medical Association (FMA) annual meeting, held Aug. 3-5 in Orlando. CCMS Past President Dr. Corey Howard was installed as the 142nd president of the FMA. CCMS Executive Director April Donahue was installed as chair of the Conference of Florida Medical Society Executives and appointed to the FMA Board of Governors. CCMS Alliance Past President Karen Swain was installed as president-elect of the FMA Alliance. CCMS Past President Dr. Rafael Haciski was elected to the FMA’s American Medical Association delegation. CCMS member Dr. Ronald Garry was installed as President of the Florida Geriatric Society. Additionally, CCMS members Dr. Jose Baez, Dr. Cesar De Leon, Dr. Catherine Kowal, Dr. James Talano, Dr. Rebekah Bernard and Dr. Rebecca Smith served as members of FMA Annual Meeting committees; Talano was appointed to the FMA Continuing Medical Education Committee; and CCMS Alliance Past President Christina Freise was appointed to the FMA Alliance Board. CCMS members Drs. George Brinnig, Craig Eichler, Alejandro Perez-Trepichio, Rolando Rivera, Gary Swain, and David Wilkinson also served as delegates at the FMA annual meeting.

DIGITAL MARKETING WORKSHOP SCHEDULED

SCORE Naples will host “Using Video to Market Your Business” from 5-7 p.m. on Sept. 11 at United Way in Naples. Attendees should plan to arrive at 4:30 p.m. Cristy Marecki will present the event. Marecki is the social media specialist at WBN Marketing LLC and has more than seven years of experience helping businesses use various social media platforms. The workshop will include the importance of digital marketing, plus what simple tools are available to use to easily create video, what type of content should be in your video, and how to upload to each platform for marketing purposes. QUATAERT JOINS PELICAN ISLE YACHT CLUB

Logan Quataert has joined Pelican Isle Yacht Club’s management team as club controller. Quataert comes on board at the conclusion of a $4.8 million clubhouse renovation and brings a background in private club accounting, finance member service and leadership.  Quataert previously served at Grey Oaks Country Club as the accounting manager and earned his degree in business finance from Florida Gulf Coast University. Quataert will oversee the financial operations of the club as well as contribute to the strategic planning for the club and membership in the facility.

NIAF raises funds for women’s healthcare

The Naples Italian American Foundation (NIAF) raised $6,000 to support women’s healthcare services for The Neighborhood Health Clinic. Members and guests of the Naples Italian American Foundation raised funds through frequent mahjongg events and tournaments. The $6,000 check was presented to clinic co-founder Nancy Lascheid during an Aug. 14 ceremony. The Neighborhood Health Clinic has provided more than 10,000 patient visits with working, uninsured men and women in fiscal year 2017. For more information, www.NeighborhoodHealthClinic.org.
