ALICO POSTS QUARTERLY PROFIT

Alico Inc. posted a net income of $9 million for the three months ended June 30, up from $5.5 million in the same period last year. The company also reported a net income of $12.3 million for the nine months ended June 30, up from $9.6 million from the same time last year. Total revenue equaled $26.5 million for the three months ended June 30, down from $51.5 million for the three months ended June 30, 2017. 

LEE HEALTH WELCOMES PIGOTT

Jeffrey Pigott has joined Lee Health as vice president of compliance and internal audit. Pigott is responsible for oversight of regulatory compliance and internal auditing for the health system. He has more than 20 years of audit, compliance, financial and accounting experience for large organizations, including health care. Pigott most recently served as the corporate compliance officer and director of internal audit for Huntsville Hospital Health System, the third largest publically owned health system in the nation, located in Huntsville, Alabama. Before that, Pigott served as audit director for CHAN Healthcare Auditors for clients based in Cincinnati, Ohio, and Knoxville, Tennessee. Pigott has an MBA from the University of Detroit Mercy. He is also a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) and Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC).

FLIGHTDOCS EXPANDS IN BONITA SPRINGS

Flightdocs has opened a new technology center in Bonita Springs. More than 75 employees, businesspeople, community members and elected officials gathered for the ribbon cutting at the 6,200-square-foot facility, which houses nearly 40 developers and technology experts. Flightdocs has doubled in employee size to 65 since 2009 and is expected to triple in revenue over the next two years. Its current location in Riverview Corporate Center in Bonita Springs provides for plenty of room to expand as the company continues to grow. Flightdocs anticipates adding 35 employees over the next year, many of whom will be recruited through its intern-development program from Florida Gulf Coast University and Florida SouthWestern State College.

FRONTIER AIRLINES EXPANDS SERVICE FROM FORT MYERS

Frontier Airlines is expanding its low-fare service between Southwest Florida Regional Airport and seven new cities starting this November. The addition of these destinations means the airline will serve 23 cities nonstop from RSW. In celebration, fares starting at $49 are available at FlyFrontier.com. The new cities from Fort Myers include the following destinations: Albany, New York; Las Vegas; Phoenix, Arizona.; Portland, Maine; Salt Lake City, Utah; and Syracuse, New York. Frontier will be the only airline offering non-stop service on five of these six routes. The carrier will operate these new routes with the Airbus A320 family of aircraft.

LARC ANNOUNCES JOB-A-PALOOZA

The Lee Association for Remarkable Citizens (LARC) will host Job-A-Palooza from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Aug. 25 at Crowne Plaza Fort Myers at Bell Tower Shops. Students with disabilities from age 14 to 21 can meet employers while peer-mentors assist them in navigating the job-fair experience. They will explore job-skill stations from businesses in industries such as retail, food service, administration, automotive and more. There will be demonstrations, friendly competition activities, awards and more. Space is limited and students must pre-register for the event by visiting www.larcleecounty.org. Through the support of the Arc of Florida and Vocational Rehabilitation, there is no cost to participate and lunch is included. LEESAR/CSF APPOINTS VICE PRESIDENT

LeeSar and Cooperative Services of Florida Inc. (CSF) have named Jeremy Owens as vice president of supply chain logistics. Owens will be responsible for optimizing the supply chain logistics of the distribution center for members by creating value through operational efficiencies and cost reduction initiatives.  He will initially focus on warehousing, transportation, IT and more. Owens brings more than 20 years of healthcare supply chain operations and leadership experience. Since 2006, Owens has been with Steward Health Care (formerly IASIS Healthcare), where he served as the Arizona market director of supply chain and later the assistant vice president of supply chain. In addition, Owens worked with Cardinal Health for eight years in a consultant role. Owens is a Certified Materials and Resource Professional (CMRP) and is engaged with healthcare organizations including the American Hospital Association and the Association for Healthcare Resources and Materials Management. Owens has a master’s degree in business administration with emphasis on health care management from the University of Phoenix.

Volunteers needed for pre-K reading program

Literacy Volunteers of Collier County are seeking tutors for the Children and Parents Reading Together program, a partnership with Collier County Public Schools. No teaching experience is necessary. The time commitment for volunteers is about three hours a week during a session. The goals are to help children in pre-K become kindergarten-ready and to teach parents the importance of reading to their children.
