2020 DISTINGUISHED ENTREPRENEUR AWARDS NOMINATIONS CLOSE SOON, DINNER SET

The Florida Small Business Development Center at Florida Gulf Coast University (FSBDC at FGCU) will present the 2020 Distinguished Entrepreneur Awards Dinner from 6-9 p.m. on May 5 at Bonita Bay Club. The awards recognize three outstanding Southwest Florida business owners for their success, innovative technology and business advocacy. 2020 MARKET OUTLOOK WORKSHOP UPCOMING

Wolf, Metzger & Maurillo Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors is hosting a complimentary workshop at noon on Feb. 19 in the Magnolia Room at Pelican Preserve in Fort Myers, addressing market conditions and potential tax savings opportunities. The “2020 Market Outlook & Florida Domicile” seminar will feature a pair of local financial professionals sharing their insight with attendees. Matt Stowell, regional vice president for First Trust Portfolios, will offer an overview of financial markets and discussion about how portfolios might be impacted in 2020. Jennifer Hammond, an attorney with Green Schoenfeld & Kyle LLP, will educate attendees about Florida’s estate and homestead laws, as well as outline how declaring Florida residency can save money on taxes. HODGES UNIVERSITY LAUNCHES TALON MAGAZINE 

Hodges University has announced the launch of its own magazine, called Talon. The first edition is now available on both the Naples and Fort Myers campuses. The magazine is an appropriate nod to our new mascot, the Hawk,” said Dr. John Meyer, president of Hodges University. “This 32-page publication includes short articles about the people and the programs that make Hodges University an exceptional place to further one’s education and realize career goals.” A digital version is available at www.hodges.edu. NAPLES ART UNVEILS ART BUSINESS ENTREPRENEUR PROGRAM

Naples Art has launched its Art Business Entrepreneur program. The one-year Art Business Entrepreneur program provides professional-development workshops and lectures, allowing artists of all disciplines to develop and refine business skills that sustain their place in an evolving arts industry, including the added marketing opportunity to expand their reach and showcase their work. Naples Art has partnered with The Clark Hulings Fund (CHF) to develop a proprietary platform to teach artists these business skills. Through a variety of online and in-person lectures, labs, workshops and study groups, CHF teaches artists essential business skills and shows how to apply their talent, experience and expertise to become successful and profitable art business entrepreneurs. BAYFRONT HEALTH FACILITIES EARN CHEST PAIN ACCREDITATIONS

The American College of Cardiology has once again recognized Bayfront Health Port Charlotte and Bayfront Health Punta Gorda for their demonstrated expertise and commitment in treating patients with chest pain, a press release states. Bayfront Health Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda were awarded Chest Pain Center Accreditation, of which Port Charlotte also received Accreditation with Primary PCI. Both were based on rigorous onsite evaluations of the staff’s ability to evaluate, diagnose and treat patients who may be experiencing a heart attack. Currently, Bayfront Health Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda are the only facilities in Charlotte County to receive this accreditation. Sunshine Ace Hardware has received the “Pinnacle Performance Retailing” from Ace Hardware Corp. for promoting a superior level of customer service and delivering on the company’s brand promise to serve its neighbors with helpful service and quality products. Family-owned retailing group Butterfly Beach Clothing has selected Fifth Avenue South in Naples to open its fourth store. Butterfly Beach Clothing offers casual beach and surf apparel for children, men and women, ranging in price from $1 to $500. Butterfly Beach Clothing Owner/Manager Jodi Ellis established the company in 2010. Ellis opened her first store in 2010 on Periwinkle Way in Sanibel Island. SWFL Children’s Charities, Inc. has revealed its lineup of auction lot packages for the 2020 Southwest Florida Wine & Food Fest, held on Feb. 22 at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort and Spa in Bonita Springs. A stay on a private island in Belize, a tour through Sonoma Wine Country, and a Texan ranch retreat are just a few of the 38 offerings that will be up for bid during the Southwest Florida Wine & Food Fest’s live auction. The SWFL Children’s Charities, Inc.’s signature fundraising event supports the nonprofit’s mission to save children’s lives and advance pediatric health care across the region. ESPN basketball analyst to headline Winged Foot Scholarship Foundation Awards

ESPN college basketball analyst Jay Bilas will headline the 31st Annual Winged Foot Scholarship Foundation Awards Banquet. The annual awards presentation, which recognizes the achievements of Collier County’s top scholar-athletes, will begin with a cocktail reception at 5:30 p.m. on May 2 at The Naples Grande Beach Resort in North Naples. the dinner and awards presentation to follow at 7 p.m. The Winged Foot Scholar Athlete Award began in 1990 at the Collier Athletic Club as a vision to recognize the top senior scholar-athlete from each of the high schools in Collier County. Each of the public and private high schools nominates its best senior scholar-athlete. Finalists receive a $5,000 scholarship. The winner, selected by a panel of Winged Foot Committee members and local citizens, earns a trophy and $10,000 scholarship. Individual tickets are available for $275 per person. A number of sponsorship opportunities also are currently available. All proceeds from the banquet go toward the scholarship program.
