LEE CLERK OF COURT EXPANDS IN BONITA SPRINGS

Lee County Clerk of Court Linda Doggett has partnered with Tax Collector Larry Hart to begin providing the clerk’s recording services directly from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the 25987 S. Tamiami Trail office in Bonita Springs. Deeds, mortgages, notice of commencements and all other official records can be recorded at the new location. Couples can apply for marriage licenses as well as get married at the office. Customers can also apply for passports and have their passport photos taken. BONITA CHAMBER TO HOST COMMUNITY EXPO

The Bonita Springs Area Chamber of Commerce’s sixth annual Community Expo will be held from 3-6 p.m. on Jan. 31 at the Promenade at Bonita Bay. The free-to-attend event will showcase more than 70 businesses and nonprofits and include a 55-inch TV giveaway sponsored by Walmart.

Attendees who are 18 and older can register to win the TV in the chamber tent at center court between 3-6 p.m., and a drawing will be held after the event. REHMANN PROMOTES SUYI

Rehmann has promoted two associates to leadership roles, including Yamirka Suyi, who is based in the firm’s Bonita Springs office. Suyi has been promoted to advisory and tax senior. She provides state and local tax (SALT) consulting services to help clients minimize tax and manage risk. She also provides corporate services to both medium- and large-sized clients as well as non-traditional services, including corporate tax consulting.

Her skills include voluntary disclosures, technical memorandums, implementations of business structure changes, identification of weakness in current processes, identification of tax overpayments or significant exposure for underpayments, audit defense and negotiation with the states and tax compliance engagements. Suyi received both her bachelor’s degree in accounting and master’s in accounting and taxation from the Florida Gulf Coast University. 

CYBERSECURITY WORKSHOP SCHEDULED

The Florida Small Business Development Center will host a no-cost workshop at 8 a.m. on Jan. 23 in the Port Charlotte office about business cybersecurity. The “Byte-Size Small Business Cybersecurity Program” will provide education and a resource guide to protect businesses and their customers, employees, and profits from cyber attacks. SCORE Naples will host “Building Your Brand,” a graphic design and marketing workshop, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Feb. 7 at the Naples Accelerator. Katelyn Cassio of Cassio Marketing Solutions will present the event.

Cassio has nearly 20 years of experience in the graphic design and marketing industries. Attendees will learn about identification of target markets, branding concepts and logo designs, fonts and text hierarchy, color theory, and development of a marketing campaign. DOWDY NAMED PATHWAYS DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT

Pathways Early Education Center of Immokalee (Pathways) welcomes Brandon Dowdy as director of development. In his current role at Pathways, Dowdy will cultivate new relationships to help give the children of Immokalee the best possible start in life through education, literacy, and school readiness. Dowdy brings more than 25 years of nonprofit leadership to the organization.

He and Beth Hatch, Pathways’ executive director previously worked together at The Greater Naples YMCA, where they launched the Gaynor Early Learning Center. At the time, the center had 260 students and scored in the top 25 percent in the state for school readiness. Dowdy was promoted to CEO of the YMCA in 2009. He has helped advance the mission of the Guadalupe Center, YMCA of West Central Illinois, as well as Meals of Hope. Dowdy holds a master’s degree in human services administration and is a 2009 graduate of Leadership Collier.

CHARITABLE NOTES

Trinity Commercial Group volunteers for three-part project for Harry Chapin Food Bank

Thirty volunteers from Trinity Commercial Group (TCG) participated in a three-part project United Way Day of Caring for Harry Chapin Food Bank. Volunteers were divided into three groups: preparing bags of food, packaging pinto beans and distributing food through the mobile food pantry. 

In the food bank warehouse, one group prepared 240 bags of nutritious supplemental food for delivery to local seniors in need. Another group took 750 pounds of pinto beans in large bulk bags and repackaged them into family-size meal packages. The third group went to Franklin Park Elementary School to distribute nearly 4,000 pounds of food to families through the Harry Chapin Mobile Food Pantry program.

The United Way’s Day of Caring is a year-round program, coordinated by the United Way Volunteer Center, which matches businesses’ desires to help with the needs of the community. For more information, visit www.UnitedWayLee.org.

Good to Go drop-off donation event set for next Friday

Lee County government is collaborating with Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida for Good to Go, a drive-up, drop-off and drive-away donation event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Jan. 18 at the Fort Myers Regional Library. The event is open to the public.

This is the fourth time the county has partnered in the event. Donations of new or gently used clothing and household goods can be brought to the downtown Fort Myers library drop-off point; enter at Richmond Street on the south side of the library between Lee Street and Royal Palm Avenue. 

In addition to household donations, Goodwill will provide a secure document drop-off bin for those who need documents shredded. A prescription drug drop-off is also part of the event. In addition, donations for Lee County Domestic Animal Services will be accepted at the event. This one-day event is part of Lee County’s commitment to United Way and its partnering agencies.
