>>Alan D. Reynolds has celebrated his 30th anniversary with WilsonMiller (www.wilsonmiller.com). Reynolds’ areas of expertise include environmental and community design as well as land use and strategic planning. He has served as planner for many communities in Southwest Florida, including the Town of Ave Maria, Babcock Ranch, the Town of Big Cypress, Bonita Bay, The Brooks and Grey Oaks. Reynolds also helped pioneer a growth management and conservation strategy, Rural Land Stewardship, which was written into Florida state law in 2002.
HALL OF FAMERS
>>Eight hall of fame members from four professional sports will play in The ACE Group Classic Official Pro-Am golf tournament next week. They are: hockey players Marcel Dionne and Rod Gilbert; basketball stars John Havlicek and Sam Jones; football greats Earl Morrall, Jan Stenerud and Anthony Munoz; and baseball slugger Jim Rice. The tournament is on Wednesday and Thursday at Quail West Golf and Country Club in Naples.
SENIOR VP
>>Bank of Florida Trust Co. Has hired Stephen R. Smith as senior vice president, relationship manager. Smith will be based at the Naples location with responsibilities for business development and client relationship management in Collier and Lee Counties in addition to the Tampa Bay region. Smith joins the company from U.S. Trust where he worked for 13 years. He earned a degree in economics from Colgate University.
GREEN LODGING
>>Three local accommodations have been named to the Florida Green Lodging Program. They are: the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort and Spa in Bonita Springs, the Bridgewater Inn in Matlacha and the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Fort Myers. Launched in 2004, the program (www.floridagreenlodging.org) is an effort by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection to encourage the lodging industry to conserve and protect Florida’s natural resources.
CLIMBING FOR A CAUSE
>> City Mattress (www.citymattress.com) president and spokesperson Marc Schiller says he and college roommate Brax Cutchin will climb Mount Kilimanjaro. They plan to reach the summit on World Water Day, March 22. The charity is universally known as the Kilimanjaro Climb for Clean Water. All of the funds raised will go directly to aid Tanzania in its need for sanitary water and to aid in suppressing water borne diseases. Schiller hopes to raise $19, 340, or $1 per foot, during their climb. Schiller and Cutchin will pay all of their own expenses.

>>Dr. Alexander M. Eaton of Retina Health Center has been selected as one of the “Best Doctors in America 2007-2008" by Best Doctor’s Inc. Eaton is one of 24 Lee Memorial Health System physicians to earn the national recognition. Best Doctor’s Inc. Consists of 50,000 medical specialists in more than 400 sub-specialties.

>>The Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) has recognized Quenzel & Associates with two awards: one for its advertising campaign on behalf of Pink Shell Beach Resort & Spa and the other for its Web marketing campaign on behalf of the Sanibel-Captiva Islands Chamber of Commerce. The awards were presented at the 18th annual HSMAI Adrian Awards Show in New York.
SHELTER DONATIONS
>>Eagle Concrete Systems is donating labor and materials for the concrete work of a new women’s abuse shelter. Mary’s House of Hope, a 3,200 square-foot transitional housing complex for abused women and their children, is expected to open in late March or early April 2008.

>>Charlie Smith, chief investment officer at Pittsburgh-based Fort Pitt Capital Group, will speak about the economy at a Feb. 19 seminar sponsored by the investment company. Smith is a regular source of economic and market commentary for the financial media including CNBC, Bloomberg News and The Wall Street Journal.
