MIVA REPORTS LOSSES
>>MIVA Inc. (Nasdaq: MIVA)
on Thursday reported an $11.5 million, fourth-quarter loss compared with a loss of $5.9 million during the same period in 2006. Fourth-quarter revenue totaled $34.6 million, down from $43 million during the same period the year before. Annual revenue was $152.8 million compared with $170.7 million in 2006. “Our fourth-quarter 2007 revenue of $34.6 million was below third-quarter 2007 due to the performance of our MIVA Media businesses,” CEO Peter Corrao stated in a news release.

IMAGE AWARDS
>>The Southwest Florida Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA)
is accepting nominations for the local chapter’s annual Image Awards, which recognizes the best public relations and marketing efforts in Southwest Florida during the past year. Submissions for the awards must be presented in a detailed and specific format, as directed by the Call for Entries, which is posted on www.fpraswfl.org. The deadline is 5 p.m. March 21. Soss earned his master of law degree from the University of Miami School of Law, and his juris doctor from Cumberland School of Law, Samford University in Birmingham, Ala. He also received a bachelor of arts in economics and political economy from Tulane University in New Orleans.

from AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps are joining staff members of the Edison & Ford Winter Estates and the City of Fort Myers code enforcement division to rehabilitate Estates office buildings on Larchmont Avenue. Students are painting the buildings today.

CORPORATE PARK
>>Owen-Ames-Kimball Co. (OAK)
has completed construction of the office park infrastructure and the first office building at the Forum Corporate Park. The 60,000-square-foot, three-story building is the first phase of a planned six-phase, multi-building complex on a 39-acre site. The park is southeast of the I-75 interchange at S.R. 82.


ULI SPEAKERS
>>The Urban Land Institute’s
forum on “Green Building in Southwest Florida: Sustainability in Motion,” set for March 28, will feature five speakers. They are Dennis Church, vice president of planning for Bonita Bay Properties, who will serve as the moderator; Jack Williams of Harvard Jolly Architects, who will discuss Charlotte County School District’s decision to go green in two new schools; Mark Raudenbush of Idyll Construction, who will address consumer awareness of green practices; Judah Rubin, project manager for North American Properties - SE Inc., who will discuss the approach to greening a prototype for Publix grocery stores; and Ted Sottong, vice president of Architecture Inc., who will discuss the future of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. PROJECT DISPUTE
>>The developer of Twins Plaza shopping center
in Cape Coral is disputing a news release distributed by its former builder, J.L Wallace Inc., that the project had been completed. Information from the release was published in Gulfshore Business Daily. Donald Hinks of Hinks and Associates says his 23,000-plus-square-foot building at 2612 Santa Barbara Blvd. is not done. Hinks says he fired J.L. Wallace because the company issued too many change orders and didn’t perform up to Hinks’ expectations. J.L.Wallace, through its public relations firm, Priority Marketing, says it stands by the news release and has completed the project.
