What's New In Gulfshore Business
From the editor.
Last year, Gulfshore Business conducted a readers’ survey to ask what you would like to see in the magazine.
We heard that you want more content devoted to small business and entrepreneurs, including profiles, tips and best practices. So beginning with this issue, after months of planning, we’ve expanded our content in that direction. For example, in “The Buzz,” we are featuring more glimpses into entrepreneurial enterprises and tools that might help small entrepreneurs.
The survey also revealed that you are interested in lifestyle subjects and consumer products. With that in mind, we are excited to debut a section called “Off the Clock,” which begins on p. 51.
Under the creative direction of Senior Editor Cary Barbor, the department includes a dining review, a test ride in a car, etiquette tips and a piece called, “What’s in your bag?” that reveals the essential belongings carried by a busy executive (think mobile devices and comfort items). The section reflects Cary’s inspired ideas as well as her professional experience as an editor for national magazines such as More and Fitness, and as a freelance writer for New York, Teen Vogue, Reader’s Digest, and many others.
You’ll notice that our art director Jesse Adams has called out the new sections, and refreshed the old, with dynamic design elements as well as striking photos and illustrations, to make the look of each page inviting and easy to read.
The result, we believe, is a well-paced magazine with a sharper focus on helpful information for our readers.
Of course, we will continue to focus on issues of the day that affect the region’s economy with our flagship features such as 40 under 40, Best of Business, Lifetime Achievement and the Face Awards.
In addition to our print publication, gulfshorebusiness.com has been redesigned to include additional information important to the business community. Please take it for a spin.
