When Kimberly Komorny was named a 40-under-40 honoree in 2005, she had been in banking more than 25 years (no, that’s not a typo). She was 39 at that time, working as an assistant vice president and branch manager at TIB Bank in Naples.
Komorny explains that at age 13 she started interning at a former Naples savings and loan association, and decided from then on to pursue a banking career.
But shortly after receiving the 40-under-40 award, Komorny’s professional path made an abrupt turn. Her experience volunteering at her son Casey’s grade school spurred her real passion: “I went from the profit to the nonprofit sector and never looked back.”
She worked for a few nonprofits before finding her current position in 2015 at Champions For Learning in Naples, where she serves as the director of donor relations. “Here I get the opportunity to create life-changing learning experiences for every student,” she says.
