Class of 2013 honoree Kimberly Royal served as director of marketing and development at Riverchase Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery when she was selected. The single mother of son Bryson, she found time to volunteer for various organizations, including the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce and Special Equestrians. Her interest in the latter group also matched her love for horses.

Royal recently graduated from Florida SouthWestern State College with a bachelor’s degree in business. She started her college career at Auburn University in 1992. After 27 years and three colleges later, she finally accomplished her goal. “It took grit to get back on that horse after so many life changes, supporting a son through his high school years and chasing basketball dreams while starting a consulting business,” she says.

When she was involved with Women In Business (WIB) at the Great Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce. She led the Scholarship and Service Committee to implement a mentor program and drive fundraising in 2012. The WIB scholarship supported non-traditional female students at FGCU and FSW. “I was inspired by the women who insisted on changing their circumstances,” she says. “Many of them were single moms and had more than one job.”

In July, Royal joined the administrative staff at Florida Skin Center as its marketing manager. And for five years, she has owned PRN Marketing & Development, a consulting firm that provides customized services to privately owned medical practices.
