21ST CENTURY ONCOLOGY HIRES COO

21st Century Oncology appointed Charlie Powell as chief operating officer on Jan. 1. Powell has a background in physician practice, ambulatory facility and hospital leadership experience in health systems, as well as private practices. 

Powell joins 21st Century Oncology from KentuckyOne Health in Louisville, Kentucky, where he served as the president, physician enterprise and ambulatory for Sts. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital. In these positions, Powell improved patient satisfaction and quality measures, hospital operating performance, and achieved the top quartile CG-CAHPS access scores in the medical group, according to a press release.

Powell has also held positions at Saint Thomas Health in Nashville as CEO, physician services and CEO, Saint Thomas Heart. He also served as CEO, Northeast Georgia Heart Center in Gainesville, Georgia, and COO, Piedmont HealthCare in Statesville, North Carolina. Powell holds master’s degrees in business administration and health administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee.

He is a certified public accountant, certified medical practice executive, and fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. 

THE IGNITE PARTNERS LAUNCHES

Felix Lluberes, Matt Bernhardt and Reema Bhatia have joined together to form The Ignite Partners.

The new Southwest Florida business works with companies that have already proven market viability and have revenue of at least $1 million or $500,000-plus Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR). They build three-year valuation and exit plans and help implement them. The goal is for Ignite’s portfolio companies to gain optimal market penetration and tech Intellectual Property (IP) creation to maximize the value of the business, resulting in a high-multiple financial exit for their shareholders.

Lluberes, CEO of The Ignite Partners, is the former co-founder and president of Position Logic LLC. He has helped transform businesses with technology and Internet of Things (IoT). Bernhardt, who serves as Ignite’s COO, is the founder of Stickboy Creative and Vectra Digital. Stickboy is a custom software and application development company that specializes in artificial intelligence-based platforms. Vectra Digital is a full service, high-tech marketing firm. Bhatia, CIO of The Ignite Partners, is one of the top women technology leaders on the national landscape in artificial intelligence and emergent technology convergence, a press release states.

ABWA CHAPTER TO DISCUSS COLLIER GROWTH TRENDS

The ABWA Neapolitan January Chapter Meeting will take place from 6-7:45 p.m. on Jan. 22 at Hilton Naples. E-COMMERCE BUSINESS BUILDING WORKSHOP SET

SCORE Naples will host “Building an E-commerce Business – Learn the Right Strategy” from 9:30-11:30 a.m. on Feb. 16 at the Naples Accelerator. Chris Brenner, who has run e-commerce for more than 10 years, will present the event. Brenner has sold merchandise on Amazon as well as his own website, with sales running more than $12 million per year. He has run SEO programs that were more than $400,000 per year. Brenner has degrees in both information technology and finance.

Takeaways from the event include Amazon shipping and return details, do’s and don’ts of setting up a site, marketing tips, website analytics, inventory planning, accepting payments, sales tax and more. DANNENHAUER JOINS FSW INSURANCE ADVISORY BOARD

Dan Dannenhauer, chairman of Five County Insurance Agency, has joined Florida SouthWestern State College’s (FSW) Insurance Advisory Board for the School of Business Administration. FSW recently announced their partnership with the Florida Association of Insurance Agents (FAIA) workforce development to promote risk management and insurance associate degree programs.

Dannenhauer is one of the local community’s independent insurance agency owners supporting this program through providing internship and mentorship opportunities for students enrolled in the program. Dannenhauer also serves on FAIA’s Good Works Fund committee which raises money to support the state college insurance degree programs and provide scholarships to students.

TLC MARKETING & CREATIVE SERVICES HIRES PRICE

TLC Marketing & Creative Services has hired Taylor Price as project coordinator to its team. Price began her new position Jan. 3 and is now responsible for the company’s media relations, newsletters, events and special projects. Price graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University with a bachelor’s degree in communication and a concentration in public relations. She plans to continue her education with a master’s degree in public relations. Prior to being hired by TLC Marketing & Creative Services as project coordinator, Price interned with the business for six months. 

AAASWFL SEES INCREASE IN HELPLINE CALLS

The Area Agency on Aging for Southwest Florida’s (AAASWFL) Elder Helpline received 73,843 calls in 2018, an increase of 16.2 percent over the previous year, and the most the agency has ever received in a single year. The agency’s helpline assists older adults, caregivers, and people with disabilities in Charlotte, Collier, DeSoto, Glades, Hendry, Lee, and Sarasota Counties. It is part of the national Eldercare Locator network and is funded through the federal Older Americans Act. Locally, the helpline can be accessed by calling (866) 413-5337 (41-ELDER) between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, excluding state holidays. Assistance is available in more than 200 languages. Chang named 2019 Southwest Florida March for Babies chair 

The March of Dimes announces Jackie Chang with The Chang Group as the 2019 Southwest Florida March for Babies chair. March for Babies will take place at 6:30 p.m. on April 27 at Centennial Park in downtown Fort Myers. Last year in Lee and Charlotte counties, March for Babies raised more than $300,000, an amount Chang wants to surpass in 2019. She has made the commitment to raise $300,000 as the 2019 goal, with community support. March of Dimes will be partnering with Golisano Children’s Hospital again in 2019. Avow awarded grant for ultrasound machine

The board of mission and outreach at Naples United Church of Christ awarded a grant of $3,000 to Avow to help fund the purchase of a Vscan portable ultrasound machine. The equipment allows Avow’s hospice and palliative care teams to assess patients in the comfort of their homes instead of sending them to imaging service providers. Avow was founded in 1983 as Collier County's original, nonprofit hospice. Today, Avow's nonprofit companies provide palliative care consultations for adults facing chronic or serious illness and hospice care and bereavement support services for children and adults.
