BB&T INSURANCE SERVICES REBRANDS
BB&T Insurance Holdings Inc., a subsidiary of BB&T Corp., has rebranded its BB&T Insurance Services retail broker. BB&T Insurance Services began doing business as McGriff Insurance Services on June 25. This includes BB&T-Oswald Trippe and Company. The new name comes from affiliate McGriff, Seibels & Williams, which provides property and casualty insurance, employee benefits, life and pension plans, financial services and surety products, as well as specialty insurance programs. BB&T Insurance Services of California and BridgeTrust Title are not included in the initial rebranding. Expanded client services include business and individual insurance, employee benefits, risk management with specialty offerings in agribusiness, construction, behavioral health care, architecture and engineering, and entertainment. The brand transition will include a new logo with an updated version of the McGriff name, as well as an updated color palette, fonts and other design elements. The rebranding is occurring just prior to the close of the acquisition of Regions Insurance Group, which has 31 offices across the Southeast, Texas and Indiana. BB&T Insurance Services announced plans in June month to acquire Regions Insurance and expects to complete the deal in early third quarter.

Healthcare Network of Southwest Florida’s (HCN) Nichols Pediatric Center received the 2018 Richard Robinson award, one of three Reach Out and Read Leadership Awards presented at the 2018 Reach Out and Read National Leadership conference. Named for Scholastic Inc. Chairman and CEo Richard “Dick” Robinson, the award recognizes extraordinary implementation of the Reach Out and Read program by a medical practice or clinic that inspires others with their efforts in support of our shared mission of early literacy promotion. Through Reach Out and Read, medical providers at HCN give children books at more than 10 well-child visits from infancy until they start school. Law & Order Ball Officer of the Year finalists announced
Five law enforcement officers have been announced as finalists for the Officer of the Year award to be given at the fifth annual 2018 Law & Order Ball, hosted by the Rotary Club of Fort Myers South at 6 p.m. on Sept. 15 at Germain Arena. The five officers have demonstrated exemplary conduct and achievements and had a significant impact on their agency and/or area of responsibility. The 2018 Law & Order Ball Officer of the Year finalist are: officer Emelia Lock, Fort Myers Police Department; K-9 officer Stephen Scrobe, Cape Coral Police Department; sergeant Sylvester Smalls, Lee County Sheriff’s Office; deputy sheriff Michael Truscott, Lee County Sheriff’s Office; and sergeant Domonic Zammitt, Fort Myers Police Department. The finalists are chosen through a blind judging process from a number of various agencies. One officer will be announced as the Officer of the Year at the ball, where they will receive a custom award designed by fine jeweler and honorary Rotarian Mark Loren. Family sand sculpting competition to return
The Golisano Children’s Museum of Naples (C’mon) will host its sixth annual Castles for Kids Sand Sculpting Competition on Aug. 1 at LaPlaya Beach and Golf Resort. While building sand sculptures of various sizes and shapes, the event aims to raise funds to support STEAM educational programming at C’mon. Twenty teams consisting of children and adults will compete for awards for the best sand sculpture creations. In addition to entertainment like pirates and an appearance from Moana, there will be a raffle featuring an assortment of items donated by businesses and attractions to help raise additional fundraising. Prizes and awards will be distributed during a lunch provided by LaPlaya. Team registrations are $75 for C’mon Members and $100 for the general public. One team is made up of a maximum of five people; one adult aged 21 and up and one child is required per team. Registration includes lunch for five people, a bucket and shovel for each person, live entertainment, prizes, and awards. Additional lunches can be purchased prior to the event.
