FSW NAMES DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SAFETY
Anthony “Tony” Giaimo has been named the director of public safety for Florida SouthWestern State College. Giaimo’s career in law enforcement spans 27 years, and he has been a college instructor for 10 years. He most recently was the superintendent of police for the Tredyffrin Township Police Department in Pennsylvania for 27 years. He has also taught criminal justice/sociology and emergency medical techniques for police officers. He graduated from Temple University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting/law, Mountain State University with a master’s degree in strategic leadership, and the FBI National Academy with a diploma and certifications in behavioral science, terrorism, management and criminal justice. Giaimo has been honored with numerous awards in his career, including Police Officer of the Year, the Safe Cities Award in 2016, the Board of Supervisors Award and the Life Saving Program Award. He is also a member of numerous professional organizations.
ESTERO CHAMBER LAUNCHES NEW BRAND IDENTITY
The Estero Chamber of Commerce recently selected AdSource Full Service Advertising & Marketing to design a new brand identity culminating the chamber’s Request for Proposal process. Local advertising agencies and graphic designers were asked to submit proposals and samples of similar work for consideration by the chamber. The new brand identity launched with the chamber’s 20th anniversary and includes a new tagline to represent the chamber’s growth of its membership and the community. In the last few years, the chamber opened a physical location, became active in The Horizon Council, Blue Chip Awards committee, Florida Gulf Coast University's Veterans Florida Entrepreneurship Program, and received one of three grants awarded in the State of Florida to start a Launch My Career program to assist young graduates find jobs. The chamber is also working with the Village Council and community leaders to start a Junior Achievement program to assist Estero students, according to a press release.
EDWARDS RENAMED TO TOP FINANCIAL ADVISORS LIST
Bob Edwards, managing director – investments, senior PIM portfolio manager of Moran Edwards Asset Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors, has been named to Barron’s annual list of America’s Top 1,200 Financial Advisors for the fifth consecutive year and as the No. 2 advisor in Southwest Florida. Barron’s is a financial weekly newspaper published by Dow Jones & Co. since 1921. Barron's Top 1,200 advisors ranking is based on data provided by thousands of advisors. Factors included in the rankings were assets under management, revenue produced for the firm, regulatory record and client retention.
CARDILLO HONORED FOR 50 YEARS OF SERVICE
John P. Cardillo, a Naples attorney, was recognized for 50 years of service to the law profession at the Florida Bar Annual Convention, held June 15 at the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek. The bar acknowledged Cardillo’s service during its 50-Year Member/Senior Counselor Celebration Luncheon. Cardillo, who has been practicing law in Naples since 1972, is a partner in the law firm of Cardillo, Keith & Bonaquist, P.A., where he concentrates in the representation of clients in personal injury and general civil litigation cases. Cardillo previously served as governor for the 20th Judicial Circuit of Florida and on the board of governors of The Florida Bar and Florida Judicial Qualifications Commission. He is a past president of the Collier County Bar Association and graduated from Furman University with a bachelor’s degree and the University of South Carolina Law School with a juris doctor degree.
WILDMAN TO MANAGE REFUGE NATURE STORE
Ann-Marie Wildman, who has served on the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge (DDWS) board of directors since election in December 2017, has been appointed manager for the Refuge Nature Store in the “Ding” Darling Visitor & Education Center on Sanibel Island. Wildman moved to Sanibel more than nine years ago. She previously owned a fine art gallery for 16 years at The Whistler Ski Resort in British Columbia, Canada. Prior to that, she worked in Honolulu for 20 years for a major art gallery, where she represented such celebrity artists as Tony Curtis, Anthony Quinn, and Red Skeleton. Since moving to the island, Wildman has been involved at “Ding” Darling as a Refuge Nature Store volunteer and Learning Lavatories and Upcycle Festival committee member. As a board member, she served as liaison to the Nature Store. The former store manager, Jeanne Walsh, will be moving to Maine in July.
DYER JOINS SANIBEL CAPTIVA TRUST CO.
The Sanibel Captiva Trust Co. has added Gary W. Dyer as senior vice president and senior portfolio manager. Dyer has more than 25 years of wealth management experience, having served as a portfolio manager, investment research analyst and member of the investment policy committees for the firms he worked for throughout his career. He is also experienced in building fixed income portfolios as appropriate, using a variety of securities. Dyer joins The the trust company from Investors’ Security Trust of Fort Myers, where he served as vice president and portfolio manager for his client group. Earlier, he worked at US Bank in Paducah, Kentucky for several years in the same role. Dyer received his bachelor of science degree in finance from Indiana University. In addition, Dyer holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and recently completed the first year of the multi-year Florida Trust & Wealth Management School. Dyer will be positioned at The Sanibel Captiva Trust Co. on Palm Ridge Road in Sanibel.
KOENIG COMPLETES GRADUATE SCHOOL OF BANKING
Scott Koenig, senior vice president at First Florida Integrity Bank (FFIB) in Naples, is among the 185 bankers who received graduation diplomas on June 1 from the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University (LSU). This three-year program provides courses covering all aspects of banking, economics and related subjects. Students traveled from 22 states and Mexico to participate in the session. Sponsored by 15 southern state bankers associations in cooperation with the division of continuing education at LSU, the banking school requires attendance on campus for three years, with extensive bank study assignments between sessions. Koenig has 24 years of experience in the banking industry. He is a graduate of Thomas More College with degrees in business administration and economics. Beginning his career in accounting at KMK Law in Cincinnati, he then became chief credit officer at Fifth Third’s northern Kentucky affiliate, followed by an auditor at the bank’s headquarters in Cincinnati. He eventually relocated to Southwest Florida and joined Shamrock Bank as a senior lender. With First Florida Integrity Bank’s acquisition of Shamrock, Koenig joined FFIB as senior vice president – commercial lender in March 2014.

Fighting Cancer Below the Belt Breakfast scheduled
The Not All Cancer is PINK-Fighting Cancer Below the Belt Breakfast, presented by 4 Words Foundation Inc., will be held from 8-11 a.m. on Sept. 6 at Pelican Preserve in Fort Myers. Registration opens at 7:30 a.m. Keynote speaker Dr. Fadi Abu Shahin, of Florida Gynecologic Oncology, will speak on the prevention, detection, treatment and medical advances of gynecologic cancers. Guest speaker Dr. Elizabeth Arguelles, of Southwest Florida Breast Surgery, will speak about hidden scar surgery and its outcome for breast cancer patients. Victims Outreach program receives funding
The Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation provided $30,000 to fund Project HELP’s (PHI) Sudden Death and Victims Outreach program to serve community members affected by sudden death or violent crimes. The grant will support PHI in providing victims with grief counseling, support groups, information and tools to cope with the loss of a loved one or traumatic event, as well as advocates to help them navigate the judicial system. Volunteers needed for family mentor program
The United Way Volunteer Center and the Children’s Network of Southwest Florida are recruiting individuals to become family mentors. Volunteers will be trained and matched with parents who have been involved in the child welfare system and are ready to be reunified with their children. An ideal family mentor will be one who can be non-judgmental, offer a minimum of one hour a week to work with the parent(s), and provide a caring and supportive relationship to reduce the feeling of isolation. Mentors will assist parents with basic parenting and family budgeting skills by teaching, coaching and modeling. The mentor will build trust with and empower the parents to define and meet goals for themselves, to achieve self-reliance, and offer advice that parents may be uncomfortable seeking elsewhere. Training classes are offered monthly and will cover the topics such as confidentiality, planning for success, family engagement, and an overview of the child welfare system.
