The public is welcome to join county officials 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 26, at Lee County’s Waste-to-Energy Plant. A 25th Anniversary Celebration and Community Open House will offer tours, refreshments, educational displays and a 10 a.m. ceremony with the Lee Board of County Commissioners and other speakers. Information, tours and displays about the waste-to-energy process and recycling will be available. The family-friendly event is designed to provide insight to what happens to the 1,800 tons of waste material produced by local residents each day. Informational displays from several county departments, including Parks & Recreation, Extension Services, Lee County Library System and Natural Resources will be on display.
