Lee County commissioners plan to discuss fluoride in drinkable water during their Feb. 4 meeting. Florida Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo said there is a neuropsychiatric risk associated with fluoride exposure and believes there could be safety concerns, such as reduced IQ in children, cognitive impairment and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
