Marco Island City Council approved a resolution delaying the enforcement of its vacation rental registration ordinance from June 30 to January 8, 2024. A referendum passed at the polls in August with 57% in favor, and, in December, Council passed the ordinance to enforce regulations for those who rent their homes for less than 30 days more than three times per year. Owners of transient rentals must register those properties with the city, which also approved the purchase of new software for online registration.
