A concentration of red tide has been detected around Charlotte County, with beaches such as Cape Haze being under a health alert due to the algae bloom. Lee County Department of Health detected the red tide from a nearby water sample on Dec. 19, issuing the health alert for Charlotte County beachgoers. In October, the algae bloom was reported on the Boca Grande beaches, wreaking mayhem on animal life, WINK News reports.
