Less than two months after opening its 35th location at Mercato in North Naples, Austin-based Alamo Drafthouse Cinema chain was acquired June 12 by Sony Pictures Experiences. Alamo Drafthouse CEO Michael Kustermann will remain in his position but will report to the president and chief operating officer of the new division of California-based Sony Pictures Entertainment. Sony plans to build on Alamo’s unique entertainment innovations and continue to welcome films from all studios and distributors, Sony reports. On April 29, Alamo’s 11-screen cinema, with its full menu of food and cocktails and a nine-hole miniature golf course, replaced Silverspot Cinema at Mercato.
