Damage from Hurricane Ian to Charlotte Sports Park has the Tampa Bay Rays seeking a new spring training location for 2023. Following a joint assessment of the damage to the Port Charlotte stadium that has been home to the Rays since 2009, the team and Charlotte County officials determined there isn’t adequate time before spring training is slated to begin to get the park in suitable condition to host games. The team and county intend to develop a restoration plan for Charlotte Sports Park in the coming weeks.
