THAT TACO PLACE IN EAST NAPLES RENAMES ITSELF THAT TACO PLACE

That taco place on U.S. 41 in East Naples has a new name. That Taco Place is the new name for La Herradura Doble, which had a social media contest last month to change its name because locals couldn’t pronounce or remember its name, which means double horseshoe in Spanish. The Mexican taqueria and cantina launched last October in the former Courthouse Shadows space of Crooked Shillelagh Celtic Kitchen. The winner of the renaming contest is Mary Funone, who is representative of the reason the restaurant’s owners sought to change the name. “I came up with that name because I always have a hard time remembering the name of a restaurant, in particular, if it is a long name or difficult to pronounce. So, I end up saying ‘That Taco Place’ or ‘That Fish Place,’” says Funone, who won a year of free tacos. The restaurant also is donating $1,000 on her behalf to a local charity of her choice: St. Peter The Apostle Catholic Church in East Naples. That Taco Place, 3340 Tamiami Trail E., is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily for dining in, takeout and delivery.
