HCN ADDS CHILDREN’S CARE WEST LOCATION

Pediatric Associates of SWFL has joined Healthcare Network of Southwest Florida (HCN) as Children’s Care West. The new practice will house six examination rooms, allowing area pediatrician Dr. Reisha F. Brown to continue seeing 1,900 patients annually but with the additional support of Healthcare Network’s programs and initiatives. Children’s Care West will be located in the building that previously housed Pediatric Associates of SWFL, 1008 Goodlette-Frank Road, Suite 100, Naples. Brown and her staff of five began seeing patients July 30.​

TWO JOIN AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION BOARD

Shelly Church and Sally Jackson will serve on the American Heart Association’s Greater Southeast Affiliate (GSA) Board of Directors for the 2018-2019 fiscal year. Jackson will serve as the board chair. Both Church and Jackson are longtime volunteers and supporters of the American Heart Association of Southwest Florida. Church, of Naples, is a certified financial planner and senior vice-president, investments at Raymond James & Associates. Jackson, of Cape Coral, is retired from Lee Health, where she previously served as the system director, government and community relations. Both Church and Jackson have served in numerous volunteer leadership and fundraising roles within the association. UNCOMMON FRIENDS FOUNDATION NAMES OFFICERS

The Uncommon Friends Foundation named its slate of officers for 2018-19 during its annual board of directors retreat at Babcock Ranch. They are: Marilyn Stout, city council member, District 3 of the City of Cape Coral, president; Caryn Smith, CEO, Driven by Design LLC and Driven to Eat LLC d/b/a Moody River Grille, vice president; Kerri Goldsmith, financial planner, HBKS Wealth Advisors, treasurer; Carlos Kelly, stockholder, Henderson, Franklin, Starnes & Holt P.A., secretary; and Helena Dabrowski, director of finance, Sunshine Ace Hardware, immediate past president. Twenty-eight board members, foundation staff and meeting facilitators attended the full-day annual retreat to review the past year and make plans for the future. Dr. Eric Dent led the program on ethics. New board members Gary Eskin, of Eskin Business Solutions, and Jarrett Eady, chairman of the Lee County Black History Society and a director of diversity and inclusion and AVID District Director of Lee County Schools, moderated breakout sessions during the day. Craig Randall, assistant professor of management at Florida Gulf Coast University, also assisted with breakout sessions. A speakers program is under development to complement the organization’s ethics agenda, a mainstay of its mission. ​

MATOS JOINS PHI BOARD

Danielle Matos has been elected to join the board of directors of Project HELP Inc. (PHI). Born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Matos graduated from Florida Atlantic University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice and took a job in the child welfare system, which brought her to Naples, where she became a fourth-grade teacher. After her daughter was born in 2016, she continued to teach English online to children in China. This month, she will begin teaching second grade at Gulf Coast Charter Academy South. ​


FAMILY PHYSICIAN JOINS BAYFRONT HEALTH

Family medicine physician Dr. Elena Herschdorfer Rodriguez has joined Bayfront Health Medical Group and is seeing patients at 713 E. Marion Ave., Suite 131, Punta Gorda. Herschdorfer Rodriguez provides services such as routine annual exams and health screenings for men and women, well-child and teen care, sick visits, immunizations and chronic disease management. Herschdorfer Rodriguez graduated from medical school at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton. She completed her residency in family medicine at Lakeside Medical Center in Belle Glade. VACCARIELLO ACCEPTED TO ACTEC

Rebecca M. Vaccariello, a litigation attorney at the law firm of Robins Kaplan LLP in Naples, has been accepted into the Florida Fellows Institute of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) (FloridaFellowsInstitute.org). Vaccariello practices in the wealth disputes and business litigation practice groups at Robins Kaplan LLP and focuses her work in the areas of probate, trust and guardianship litigation and counsels fiduciaries in non-litigation settings. She is the president of the Collier County Women’s Bar Association, the Legal Aid Society’s Attorney of the Year for 2017, and a graduate of Leadership Collier Foundation’s GAIN Class of 2013.​

Naples Originals donates $6,000 to community nonprofits

Naples Originals, a group of more than 35 local independent restaurants, has donated $6,000 to Southwest Florida nonprofits that have a culinary-related mission. The gifts include $3,000 to fund the 2018-19 Naples Originals scholarships at Florida Gulf Coast University's (FGCU) School of Resort and Hospitality, and $2,000 to St. Matthew's House Homeless Feeding Ministry. The gifts also included $1,000 to FGCU’s Campus Food Pantry. The donated funds were earned by Naples Originals' 2017 Foodie Camp, a series of cooking classes at member restaurants. The fourth annual Foodie Camp takes place in October 2018, with a portion of proceeds again earmarked for FGCU and St. Matthew's House, among other nonprofits.
