SEMI-ANNUAL HOME & GARDEN SHOW TO RETURN IN SEPTEMBER
The 24th Semi-Annual Home & Garden Show will return to downtown Fort Myers from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 19-20. Now in its 24th year, Expo Management Inc.’s semi-annual Home & Garden Show features more than 100 local and regional companies that display and present products and services to homeowners. The show will be the first public event at the new Caloosa Sound Convention Center, according to a news release. A ribbon-cutting with Luminary Hotel officials and Fort Myers Mayor Randy Henderson will be held to open the Caloosa Sound Convention Center at 10 a.m. on Sept. 19. The 2020 Semi-Annual Home & Garden Show will follow the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, state, and local safety recommendations, which will include promoting social distancing, the wearing of facial masks, one-way direction only aisles a minimum of eight feet wide and hand sanitizer stations throughout the venue. Masks will be provided to attendees without masks.
 

26TH ANNUAL BLUE CHIP COMMUNITY BUSINESS AWARD COMES WITH CHANGES 

The 26th annual Southwest Florida Blue Chip Community Business Award has announced some changes. Coordinated and sponsored for 26 years by McGriff a subsidiary of Truist Insurance Holdings, the community event will now be co-produced with the Lee County Economic Development Office (EDO), the Horizon Council, and the Horizon Foundation. It will also be postponed to May 2021. In keeping with its founding principles, the Blue Chip program will recognize small business owners who have overcome adversity to achieve success. Thriving for-profit companies with their primary office located in Charlotte, Collier, or Lee County may apply. Eligible businesses must have been in continuous operation for at least three years under the same ownership and have five to 400 payroll employees. Registration for the event will remain free. Additional details about the event, including the new location and time, and information about applications for the Southwest Florida Blue Chip Community Business Award are forthcoming. VIRTUAL LUNCH ‘N LEARN TO INFORM ON POLITICS

The Public Relations Society of America’s (PRSA) Gulf Coast Chapter will host a virtual “Lunch ‘N Learn” session from noon to 1 p.m. on Sept. 22 via ZOOM. The PRSA Gulf Coast will discuss “Vetting Political Information in an Election Year” for insight into local and national elections. The conversation will be hosted by Alan Horton, a former reporter for the Scripps Howard News Service Washington Bureau during the Vietnam War and Watergate era as well as former editor of the Daily News, and Sandy Parker, founder/publisher of Sparker’s Soapbox, a blog, website and e-newsletter that facilitates and encourages informed voting. BIG STORM BREWERY TAKING OVER BIG BLUE BREWERY’S SPACE IN CAPE CORAL

A local brewery has made the decision to close its doors, but the space won’t be empty for long when a neighboring brewery takes over to keep the spot alive for locals, WINK News reports. Joseph Termini, co-owner of Big Blue Brewery in south Cape Coral, closed the business for good on Saturday after operating for four years. Breweries and bars have taken huge hits in Florida since the onset of the pandemic, but the owners of Big Blue thought about selling before the pandemic. The owners of Big Storm Brewery, right down the road in Cape Coral, have suffered through the same kind of business pain but they decided to roll the dice and expand by taking over Big Blue’s building. Big Storm has been temporarily closed because it doesn’t serve the food required for on-premises alcohol sales, so the kitchen at Big Blue will allow it to reopen, co-owner Leo Govoni said.

BSSW ARCHITECTS COMPLETES DESIGN FOR ST. WILLIAM PARISH COMMUNITY CENTER IN NAPLES 

BSSW Architects, a regional leader in religious architectural design, has completed renderings for a new Parish Community Center at St. William Catholic Church in Naples. The 30,000-square-foot, two-story building will house 12 offices, nine classrooms, a teen center, hospitality foyer, catering kitchen, visiting priest accommodations, ministry hall, community room, library, sculpture garden and two-story breezeway entry. The Parish Community Center uses design elements from the main church building to provide a visual connection and cohesive campus feel to the parish. STUDIO+, VENTURE X ADAPTING OFFICE DESIGN FOR PANDEMIC WORLD

Studio+ and Venture X are changing the way people return to the office by offering a work-from-anywhere experience at their new location on the top floor of Naples’s newest office building. Studio+ designers are working with Venture X to create solutions within corporate spaces that meet the needs of the pandemic world while offering a welcoming high-end office environment. This new location is designed for health and wellness and includes touchless entry systems, state-of-the-art digital tools that provide virtual meetings, and UV lights added to the air handling unit which sterilizes the air moving through it.  The Studio+ design concept intends to bring the outdoors in by incorporating live vertical gardens and bio walls, sustainable wood finishes, and an abundance of natural light throughout the space. The location is complete with 70 private offices, collaboration booths, communal tables, multiple meeting rooms, and a podcast recording studio, and it is slated to open February 2021. Partners for the project include EC4B Engineering, P.C. and Energy Concepts of Southwest Florida Inc.

Clive Daniel designs staging for $17M Port Royal home in Naples

Babcock Ranch continues sales momentum with 800 new home contracts

Kitson & Partners announced that sales have surpassed 800 new homes in Babcock Ranch. Babcock Ranch hit the 700-homes-sold milestone two months ago and recently earned a spot on RCLCO Real Estate Advisor’s Top 50 list, ranking 39th among the country’s top-selling master-planned communities. Heatherwood Construction hires two

Josué “Joe” Raymond has joined the team at Heatherwood Construction as a project manager. Raymond has broad experience in the construction industry, including work on several professional stadiums and public schools. He earned a Bachelor of Science in construction engineering from the University of Central Florida his OSHA 30-hour certification. Raymond is proficient in a variety of construction software programs and has worked with community organizations like the Urban Land Institute, Hope & Literacy, the Second Food Harvest Bank and the Community Food Outreach. In addition, Heatherwood Construction added Alex Ramirez as a project superintendent. Alex Ramirez has over 30 years of construction experience in Southwest Florida. This construction professional is bilingual with a strong background in construction management. He has been recognized for his skills in scheduling, organization, quality control, customer service and project efficiency.
 

RiverLandings Motorcoach Resort welcomes new sales manager

Eddie Sharp recently started his new position as sales manager at RiverLandings Motorcoach Resort in Labelle. Sharp brings years of sales and marketing experience to his role at RiverLandings. Sharp spent the last two and a half years as the general manager at Millennium Luxury Coach and before that he spent three years in charge of sales at Mountain Falls RV Resort in Lake Toxaway, North Carolina. Prior to that, he had a 20-year career in motorsports.

Swinging With Purpose accepting Grant Applications through Oct. 15

Swinging With Purpose (SWP) is accepting grant applications through Oct. 15 for the 2021 fundraising year. Nonprofit organizations that provide services to women and children in Southwest Florida are invited to apply. All applicants will be notified by Nov. 15 of the outcome of their application. SWP is a nonprofit organization that provides support (financial and in-kind) to grassroots organizations serving women, girls and children in Southwest Florida.  To date, SWP has provided in-kind and financial support of more than $900,000 to numerous organizations in our Community. Make-A-Wish Southern Florida’s Walk For Wishes set for October

The Make-A-Wish Southern Florida Walk For Wishes virtual 5K Walk will begin with an open ceremony at 8 a.m. on Oct. 10. The walk begins at 8:10 a.m., followed by a 9 a.m. closing ceremony. The event raises money to grant the life-changing wishes of local children with critical illnesses. The cost to participate is $20 for adults and $20 for children ages 12 and under. Boys & Girls Club of Collier County hosts ‘Stuff the Bus’ School Supply Drive

Boys & Girls Club of Collier County has launched a county-wide Back 2 School School Supplies Drive to promote academic success for Naples and Immokalee students in the 2020-2021 school year. The Boys & Girls Club of Collier County partnered with 105.5 The Beat, Coffee Bar 239, Walmart, and OfficeMax to host a Stuff the Bus event on Aug. 29. School supplies including notebooks, writing utensils, art supplies, and other classroom items, as well as monetary donations, were collected for students. Individuals can make a monetary donation for the purchase of supplies via a secure portal on the club’s website bgccc.com or by texting BACK2SCHOOL2020 to 44321. All donations are tax-deductible.
