The 2019 Southwest Florida Women’s Business Summit, organized by the Lee County Economic Development Office, will begin with registration and networking at 8 a.m. on March 1 at Florida SouthWestern State College in Fort Myers. A presentation delivered by keynote speaker Mary Van Praag, brand president of Soma Intimates, will take place at 9:15 a.m. The event is intended to educate and elevate women in their careers through hands-on and motivational workshop sessions. LEE HEALTH 2019 BOARD OF DIRECTORS NAMED
Lee Health announces the newly elected officers of its 2019 board of directors. The officers who will continue to serve in their roles include Dr. Stephen R. Brown (pictured left), chairman; Donna Clarke, vice chairman; David F. Collins, treasurer; and Therese Everly, secretary. Other board members include Dr. Sanford Cohen; Diane Champion; Jessica Carter Peer; Chris Hansen; Nancy McGovern; and Stephanie Meyer. The board of directors consists of 10 officials, from five districts, who are elected by the residents of Lee County in staggered four-year terms. The board holds regularly scheduled public meetings to set goals and objectives and to hear recommendations from the health system’s administrative and medical staffs. FREE MENTORING EVENT IN MAY
SCORE Naples will host “Choose Your Counselor” from 9:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. on May 4 at SCORE Naples. The program offers free weekend mentoring. Attendees can select a counselor who best suits their needs and schedule a one-hour appointment with them online. Counselors include Jeanine Cotter, a business owner with 34 years of experience; Norm Stern, marketing and management instructor at the Lutgert College of Business; Ron Wilson, adjunct professor in business and economics at Singapore Management University and mentor at the Institute for Entrepreneurship at Florida Gulf Coast University; Gail Steckler, treasurer of a family-owned consulting business from start up to sale and founding board member of a community bank; Jim Dallet, who has 45 years of experience in retail pharmacy management and ownership; and J.B. LEE HEALTH EXPANDED OB SERVICES TO LAUNCH
Lee Health’s expanded obstetrics (OB) services and renovated patient rooms at HealthPark Medical Center are set to open next week. The health system will now feature 107 OB beds, and all of the newly renovated rooms at HealthPark will be fully private with family sleep capabilities. In addition to adding more beds, this move helps meet several other goals of Lee Health’s OB service line. The renovated delivery rooms are located near the unit’s operating suites should they be needed, and the OB Emergency Department and OB triage located in HealthPark’s emergency department is being expanded from three to seven beds, with a completion date of July 1. The last day for patients to come to Gulf Coast Medical Center for delivery is Feb. 26. Patients who go into labor after Feb. 26 should go to HealthPark Medical Center. ORR NAMED AMONG 2019 MEN OF IMPACT
Dr. James W. Orr Jr., medical director of Florida Gynecologic Oncology, an affiliate of Century Oncology, has been selected by the Southwest Florida Women’s Foundation as one of its 2019 Men of IMPACT for his leadership in elevating the status of women throughout his career as well as community service efforts. Orr has been in practice for over three decades and has treated tens of thousands of women, according to a news release. He has earned numerous awards and accolades over his career, including recognition on Castle Connolly’s “Top Doctors” list for more than 20 consecutive years. He has published or contributed to more than 200 books, manuals, published abstracts, and refereed articles. Orr was one of eight Men of IMPACT honorees recognized at a dinner held Feb. 20 and hosted by the Bonita Bay Club. All proceeds assist Earn to Learn FL students achieve their goals through education.
DOUPÉ SPEAKS AT FAMILY LAW REVIEW SEMINAR
Reuben Doupé, marital and family law partner at Coleman, Hazzard, Taylor, Klaus, Doupé and Diaz, and fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, lectured at the annual Family Law Review Seminar, held on Jan. 25 at the Gaylord Palms in Orlando. He presented on Post Judgment Modification of Support Awards.
The seminar is sponsored by the Family Law Section of the Florida Bar and the Florida Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. It is the second-largest dedicated family law seminar in the country, and had more than 1,600 participants this year.

Dr. Sean Kelley received the William P. Lascheid Founder Award during the Neighborhood Health Clinic’s 2019 Gourmet Vintner Dinner, held on Feb. 2, at The Ritz-Carlton, Naples. The award, named in honor of clinic co-founder William P. Lascheid, recognizes individuals who exemplify the qualities that were quintessentially Dr. Lascheid: compassionate, leader, visionary. Kelley, who specializes in state-of-the-art pain management options, has practiced medicine in Naples for more than 20 years and has volunteered at the clinic since its inception in 1999, seeing patients on Saturdays.
Friends of Hope’s Denim & Diamonds benefit raises $150,000 for Joanne’s House
Friends of Hope hosted a “Denim & Diamonds” benefit at Bonita Bay Club, raising $150,000 for Joanne’s House at Hope Hospice in Bonita Springs. Committee members Barbara Caccese, Joyce Kozlowski, Claire McMahon, Patt Suwyn, Adele Waddell and Carol Wood coordinated the evening, which included dinner, dancing and silent and live auctions.

Holocaust Museum & Education Center’s fundraiser set for March
Triumph 2019, the Holocaust Museum & Education Center’s annual fundraising event, will be held on the evening of March 4 at Grey Oaks Country Club in Naples. Guest Speaker Christian Picciolini will present “There Is Life After Hate.” The peace advocate and former violent extremist will discuss how he now fights against the hate and bigotry he once promoted, a press release states.
Inaugural AllStars of TheatreZone raises $80,000
TheatreZone’s inaugural AllStars of TheatreZone fundraiser on Jan. 25, starring Tony Award winner Rupert Holmes, raised $80,000 for the nonprofit performing arts organization. Ralph and Billie Hazelbaker received the first AllStars of TheatreZone Award for their long-time support or the organization. Co-chairs Joni Brickley and Sarann Kraushaar, along with TheatreZone’s event committee, planned the event.
Event proceeds help TheatreZone bring professional actors, musicians and designers to Naples from across the country, as they need transportation, housing and other expenses paid. TheatreZone announces its 2019-2020 show line-up on March 4. It will be the theatre’s 15th season.
