PGD Passenger Count Up

The Charlotte County Airport Authority (CCAA) announced the Punta Gorda Airport (PGD) passenger count for 2017 was 1.293 million, a 15.65 percent increase compared with 1.118 million passengers in 2016. For the month of December 2017 the total passenger count was 128,388, a 19.3 percent increase from December 2016. A 2017 economic impact study by Volaire Aviation Consulting estimated that in the Southwest Florida region PGD is responsible for 3,618 full-time jobs with $353.2 million in economic output.

Naples Metro Area Among 'Best-Performing' in U.S.

The Naples-Immokalee-Marco Island, FL metro area finished No. 18 among the county’s Best-Performing Cities Ranking (Large Cities/Metropolitan Areas), ranked by the Milken Institute. The index, which has has been published annually since 1999, uses fact-based metrics in nine categories to evaluate the relative growth of metropolitan areas. Metrics include growth in jobs, wages and salaries, and technology output over time. The index also measures high-tech fields whose concentrations in a metropolitan area are higher than the national average. David Lawrence Adds Treatment Program

David Lawrence Center has received a $320,000 grant from the State of Florida through federal funding provided by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s State’s Targeted Response to the Opioid Crisis initiative. David Lawrence Center’s Crossroads Adult Addiction Recovery program is utilizing the funding to add the Maintenance of Opioid Recovery Everyday (MORE) Medication-Assisted Treatment program to expand its continuum of inpatient detoxification, residential, intensive outpatient and ongoing recovery support services. The MORE program includes a comprehensive clinical assessment performed by a specialized, designated medication-assistance treatment therapist, medical assessment performed by a nurse and a psychiatric addiction medical evaluation performed by a psychiatrist. For individuals who qualify for financial assistance, the grant will fund all medications and outpatient therapy services, and a state-mandated, sliding fee scale based on ability to pay can be utilized for the inpatient treatment. VenturePitch Deadline Nears

Entrepreneurs seeking capital must submit a plan by Feb. 15 for the opportunity to pitch their young companies at 2018 VenturePitch SWFL and compete in a Shark Tank-style event in April. For the first time, VenturePitch SWFL will be held at Babcock Ranch, the new solar-powered town in Charlotte County, from 5:30-8 p.m. on April 12. SCORE will serve as the screening committee and select the 10 semi-finalists to pitch from Charlotte, Collier, Hendry, Glades, Lee and Sarasota counties. Fusion Pointe will interview the 10 semi-finalists to determine the final four who will be invited to pitch at the April 12 event. To be considered, companies must be in the pre-revenue stage or within the first few months of producing revenues, in business less than two years, have a scalable business model, and have not already raised more than $1 million. TMCFM Acquires Local Harley-Davidsons

Scott Fischer, president of Scott Fischer Enterprises, announced the sale of Six Bends Harley-Davidson and Naples Harley-Davidson to TMCFM Inc. The closing was scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 10. Scott Fischer Enterprises continues to own and operate its Harley dealerships in New Mexico and California, and will continue to own and operate Top Rocker Field and Events in Fort Myers.
