AAF-SWFL REACTIVATES, HOSTS KICKOFF
The American Advertising Federation-Southwest Florida (AAF-SWFL) chapter will celebrate its reactivation with a kickoff event and swearing-in ceremony from 5:30-7 p.m. on July 25 at the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center in downtown Fort Myers. Special guest Barry Wallace, the 2019-20 chairman of the American Advertising Federation’s Council of Governors, will conduct the swearing-in ceremony. AAF-SWFL is a professional advertising club and political action organization devoted to the protection and promotion of advertising in Southwest Florida. Now accepting membership applications, AAF-SWFL is open to advertisers, agencies, media companies and advertising service providers in Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Glades and Hendry counties. LEE HEALTH HOSPITALS AWARDED FOR EMERGENCY CARE
Two Lee Health emergency departments have been recognized among the nation’s elite in leadership, practice, education, advocacy and research. The emergency departments at Cape Coral Hospital and Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida have each earned the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) Lantern Award. With the Lantern Award, the ENA recognizes the best emergency departments in the U.S. across several core areas. Nationally, 28 emergency departments received the award this year, bringing the total to 69 Lantern-designated EDs in the U.S. Cape Coral Hospital and Golisano Children’s Hospital are the only recipients in Southwest Florida, and two of six to receive the designation in the state of Florida. Bytnar will be teaching the Auction Marketing Manager workshop and the Teen Leadership and Communication workshop. Robertson will be presenting a segment how to smoothly execute critical moments during a fundraising event. FAMILY MEDICINE RESIDENTS CELEBRATE GRADUATION
Lee Health recently celebrated the graduation The Florida State University College of Medicine Family Medicine Residency Program, class of 2019. The residency program, based at Lee Memorial Hospital, was created to address an expected national shortage of primary care physicians. This year’s graduates include Dr. Amanda Danley, who will practice in Cape Coral; Dr. Kristen Dimas, who will join the Lee Physician Group Residency Faculty in Fort Myers; Dr. Clay Duval, who will practice in Colorado Springs, Colorado; Dr. Elizabeth Duval, who will practice in Colorado Springs, Colorado; Dr. Charles Fleischer, who will join The Florida State University College of Medicine faculty as an assistant professor; and Dr. Kenneth O’Dell, who will practice in Sebring. Dr. Heidi Lee and Dr. Christie Caceres also completed their one-year Global Health Fellowship.

MacGregor Monroe, client service associate at Touchstone Wealth Partners |UBS, has passed the Series 7 exam. Also known as the General Securities Representative Exam (GSRE), it qualifies financial professionals to purchase and/or sell security products such as corporate securities, municipal fund securities, options, direct participation programs, investment company products and variable contracts. Monroe will continue to spearhead internal operations including client account maintenance and processing. He began his career as an intern with UBS in November 2016 and was offered a fulltime position in June 2018. Monroe earned his Bachelor of Science degree in economics from Florida Gulf Coast University.

Priority Marketing has hired Katie Armes as senior marketing coordinator. Working closely with Priority Marketing’s team of account managers, Armes provides support with marketing, advertising and creative coordination, as well managing social media and email marketing programs on behalf of Priority Marketing’s business, nonprofit and government agency clients. Additionally, Armes collaborates with Priority Marketing’s public relations team to develop and implement community relations initiatives. Armes’ prior experience includes roles as a communications and marketing coordinator with a Naples-based consulting firm, digital communications specialist with a public relations company and marketing team member for a professional baseball team. Armes earned a bachelor’s degree in sports management, with a minor in business administration, from the University of Florida.

In 2017 he received his LL.M. in Taxation from the University Of Florida Levin College Of Law. Prior to joining the Farr Law Firm, Fischer practiced as a tax consultant in a Big Four accounting firm in Tampa, where he focused primarily on cross border transactions.

Cape Coral Police Department raises $7K to benefit Fallen Officer Memorial Fund
The Cape Coral Police Department held its annual 5K run/walk on May 18 at the Cape Coral Yacht Club. The event raised more than $7,000 to benefit families of fallen and injured officers. The annual race is the sole event held each year to raise money for the fund. The race kicked off with a starter pistol start and the course ran through surrounding neighborhoods. Utilizing Chrono Track B-Tag technology, runners were equipped with timing strips that tracked individual start and finish times. The event concluded with a celebratory gathering in the yacht club pavilion and included refreshments, awards and prizes. Established in 2009, the Fallen Officer Memorial Fund assists families of law enforcement officers throughout Southwest Florida who are lost in the line of duty, sends family members to the annual Florida FOP State Memorial Service, and assists officers who are seriously injured. LYNQ Restaurant, Community Cooperative to partner to fight summer hunger
Community Cooperative is teaming up with LYNQ Restaurant to support its Summer Drive for Hunger. From 5-7 p.m. on July 18, LYNQ will be offering an extended happy hour and passed appetizers for its guests, in addition to giving back 10 percent of proceeds from sales that evening to Community Cooperative. Guests are invited to bring canned goods or other non-perishable food items or a financial contribution to the event to contribute to LYNQ’s food drive. During the months of June, July, and August, Community Cooperative has a goal of raising $25,000 and 25,000 pounds of food for its Community Cafés, Community Market and mobile food pantries.
Florida Lions Eye Clinic receives $10,000 grant
The Florida Lions Eye Clinic recently received a $10,000 grant through the Angel Fund for Small Nonprofits, from the Community Foundation of Collier County, which will benefit the clinic’s Gift of Sight program. The Gift of Sight program focuses on providing people with eye care, helping prevent blindness and improve vision. The grant from the Community Foundation, Angel Award, will allow the Florida Lions Eye Clinic to continue to increase positive health outcomes and expand on this mission, a press release states.
