MNMW PARTNER NAMED GO-GETTER OF THE YEAR
Tami Cindrich, partner with Markham Norton Mosteller Wright & Co., P.A. (MNMW), received the 2018 “Go-Getter of the Year” award from the National Society of Certified Healthcare Business Consultants (NSCHBC) for her contributions to the organization. The award is given to one member of the NSCHBC during the annual conference who exceeds all expectations in his or her volunteer role for the society during the year. The NSCHBC is a national society that serves the healthcare community by providing invaluable resources, education, and networking to its members. Cindrich joined MNMW in 1998 and is a Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Healthcare Business Consultant, and an Advanced Certified QuickBooks Pro Advisor. She specializes in consulting with medical and dental practices, working closely with physicians and administrators in all aspects of practice management, from startups to mergers and acquisitions. Cindrich has a bachelor of science degree in accounting and master of accountancy degree, both from the University of South Florida.
LEE VCB HIRES TWO
Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau (VCB) has appointed Joan Barkowski as its new sales coordinator and Brittany Bremer as its new visitor services coordinator. Barkowski’s role includes promoting The Beaches of Fort Myers & Sanibel to travel agents and potential visitors. She has five years in the hospitality industry, including front office manager, and sales and catering coordinator at hotels in Lee County. Prior to the VCB, she was a client partner in the sales division at Gartner in Fort Myers. She is a 2014 graduate of Florida Gulf Coast University with a bachelor’s degree in resort and hospitality management. She was born and raised in Germany and speaks German, English and some Spanish. In her roles as a visitor services coordinator, Bremer will be based at Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW). The visitor services team provides information to the traveling public, supports airport customer service initiatives and coordinates community tourism programs such as the Elaine McLaughlin Outstanding Hospitality Service Awards and the Lee County Travel Rally. She is a 2016 graduate of Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri, with a bachelor’s degree in wildlife conservation and management. She is a certified Florida Master Naturalist and is currently pursuing her master's degree in environmental studies at Florida Gulf Coast University. Bremer most recently worked as a park ranger at Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park in Naples.
LEE EDO LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE
The Lee County Economic Development Office (Lee EDO), in partnership with the Horizon Council and Horizon Foundation, has launched its redesigned website, www.leecountybusiness.com. The new website offers enhanced features designed to assist entrepreneurs starting a business, existing local businesses considering expansion, and site selection consultants helping companies in the relocation process. The new website is a one-stop source of information, business resources, county data, community development projects, a blog and more. Visitors can research county demographics, perform property searches, explore business intelligence tools and find ample information on doing business in Lee County. Entrepreneurs starting a business or growing an existing business can benefit from the Lee Entrepreneurs Assistance Resource Network (LEARN), a directory of local and regional partners who offer low- and no-cost business resources. In addition, users will find a comprehensive business event calendar, featuring local workshops, seminars and business networking opportunities. The site also provides information on the Horizon Council. Data has also been updated and expanded on the mobile-friendly website.
FELIPE’S EXPANDS TO FORT MYERS BEACH
Felipe's Mexican Taqueria opened a new location in Fort Myers Beach on June 14, with plans to have a grand opening in September. The latest edition marks a milestone of growth for the Felipe's brand in the Florida market as it joins two other locations in Naples and Gainesville. BODINE PERRY WELCOMES NEW HIRES
Dan Fuller and Jason Hutchinson have recently joined national accounting firm Bodine Perry in its Naples office. Fuller joins Bodine Perry as a staff accountant and former intern. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Ave Maria University. He is currently pursuing a Certified Public Accountant license while working at Bodine Perry. Hutchinson joins as a staff accountant as well and was also a former intern. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Florida Gulf Coast University and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity.
ABWA TO HOST EVENT FOR SMALL BUSINESSES
The ABWA Neapolitan June Chapter Meeting will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. with a 5:15-6 p.m. networking session on June 26 at the Hilton Naples. Small-business specialist Ann Kohler will present “Accounting and Finance TIPS for the Small Business” during the event. Kohler is experienced in cloud-based technology and helps clients adopt new technologies and employ software. She also helps clients understand data and financial statements. Kohler is a QuickBooks Certified Pro Advisor and instructs businesses on how to leverage the accounting software to efficiently analyze business performance and compile financial data reports. DDWS distributes scholarships to local students
The “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge (DDWS) has awarded $19,700 in conservation education scholarships to 15 students from the surrounding five-county area. During its 12-year history, the DDWS Environmental Scholarship Program has awarded a total of $116,700. Nine donors sponsored the 15 scholarships this year. DDWS awarded two Richard Bailey Scholarships named in memory of a longtime refuge volunteer and donated by his family. They went to Taylor Hancock, Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU); and Robert Smith, FGCU. The Mike and Terry Baldwin Scholarship went to Katie Thorp, University of Florida (UF). Sarah Swiersz, University of Central Florida (UCF), received the Dr. Andrew and Laura Dahlem Scholarship. Morgan Humphrey, FGCU, received the Dr. H. Randall Deming Endowed Scholarship for Conservation & Environmental Studies. Two Leslie & Hans Fleischner Scholarships went to Anthony Bonacolta, University of Miami (UM); and Dara Craig, Vanderbilt University in Tennessee. Maegan Mikkelson, entering UF, won the Mary Elaine Jacobson Memorial Scholarship. Kevin Macias, Cornell University, received the Francine Litofsky Scholarship. Tarpon Bay Explorers Scholarships sponsored five recipients: Stella Souza, entering University of South Florida; Adrian Dougherty, UF; Jack Joers, Florida Atlantic University; Danielle Winchel, entering UF; and Haleigh Niles, entering Washington University. The Jane Werner Endowed Environmental Scholarship, went to Griffin Alexander, entering UM. DDWS will be awarding scholarships of $1,000 to $4,000 each at the end of the 2018-19 school year. High school seniors and college students living in Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Glades, and Hendry counties and pursuing careers in biology, conservation, and environmental studies are eligible.
