SOUKUP STRATEGIC SOLUTIONS, ADMINISTRATION ON DISABILITIES PARTNER
Soukup Strategic Solutions is partnering with the Administration on Disabilities (AoD) to facilitate listening sessions in 18 cities across the country. The purpose of these listening sessions is to collect data and identify priority areas of emergency preparedness and recovery for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The AoD is part of the U.S. Administration for Community Living and includes the Administration on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AIDD) and the Independent Living Administration (ILA). Together with Sidem, who will provide logistics support for the project, the AoD and Soukup Strategic Solutions will gather information from members of the community in each of 18 cities. This information will be used to identify areas in which the federal government can assist states in addressing priority areas of need for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to prepare for and recover from emergencies and disasters. The Fort Myers event is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 14 at the Crowne Plaza Fort Myers at Bell Tower Shops. In Naples, the panelists are Marc Devisse, president of Tri-Town Construction, LLC; Claudine Leger-Wetzel, vice president of sales and marketing at Stock Development; and LaShaun Collier, marketing director for FGCU’s Small Business Development Center. The Community Foundation of Collier County announced the addition of three new members to the Board of Trustees. Bradley G. Rigor, Allyson Richards, and Michael J. CALI GROUP UNVEILS CALIBURGER 2.0
CaliBurger, a subsidiary of holding company Cali Group, is unveiling its first “CaliBurger 2.0” in Fort Myers. The restaurant features a new menu incorporating the most celebrated products from CaliBurger in the Washington, D.C., market and the CaliBurger Kitchen Lab in Pasadena, California. Guests to the new Caliburger 2.0 can order these new products on self-ordering kiosks incorporating PopID (PopID.com). Additionally, for the first time, guests can watch two revolutionary robots cooking in the kitchen. CaliBurger guests can also play e-sports games on their mobile devices and watch the results on an interactive video wall. Recently, CaliBurger signed an Area Development Agreement to enter the Florida market in partnership with Jeff Burns and Tim Frederic, formerly a multi-unit McDonald’s operator. The new CaliBurger restaurant will open in November at 19800 Village Center Drive in Fort Myers.
Habitat ReStore Helps Build Affordable Housing
After receiving a record number of donated goods last fiscal year, the Habitat for Humanity ReStores in Lee County were able to help offset the costs of building 65 affordable homes. The ReStores accept gently used furniture, appliances and building materials from homeowners, contractors and businesses. These items are later sold to the public at a discount rate and 100% of ReStore profits are used to build or rehab homes for local families in Lee and Hendry Counties. With four locations in Lee County, the ReStore logged 18,846 donation drop-offs or pick-ups this year, an increase of 16% from 2017-2018. Lee County Tax Collector office raises money for Golisano
Employees of the Lee County Tax Collector’s South Fort Myers service center off Pine Ridge Road near Fort Myers Beach sold candy bars for $1 each to raise $2,500 for Golisano Children’s Hospital. The Tax Collector’s office presented a check for that amount to a Lee Health Foundation administrator at the South Fort Myers service center. This is the third time the office has used candy to raise money for the hospital since the new facility opened in 2017, with the other fundraisers each raising nearly $3,000 and $4,000. This latest fundraiser took place over the past eight months.
