A win came this week for those who want sports betting in Florida sooner rather than later. A judge dismissed one of the lawsuits from the owners of the Bonita Springs Poker Room but two more lawsuits are waiting to be heard. The Havenick family, which also owns Magic City Casino in Miami, hopes their odds are better the second time around. They’ll have a different judge, in a different court and a new argument. They believe online sport setting controlled by the Seminole Tribe will “cannibalize” their customer base. A federal judge dismissed one of three lawsuits challenging their compact to bring sports betting to Florida because it sued state officials instead of federal agencies. No Casinos, an anti-gambling group, filed suit against the Department of the Interior, the federal agency that approved the compact. A judge will hear both remaining lawsuits on Nov. 5, WINK News reports.
