Lee County Commission voted Tuesday to award a contract for engineering services for expansion and renovations to LeeTran’s Rosa Parks Transportation Center in Fort Myers. The renovations will include four new bus bays, interior remodeling and ADA improvements to the restrooms. The $176,000 engineering contract is with DRMP Inc. The Rosa Parks Transportation Center has nine bays for LeeTran fixed-route buses, one designated ADA Paratransit van pull-in area, taxi and rideshare stands, intercity bus pull-in bays, customer service areas for both LeeTran and Greyhound, as well as customer amenities in the lobby. About 1,100 passengers use bus bays and about 65 people use customer service areas for LeeTran and Greyhound services daily. On Oct. 19, the Board approved a contract amendment with Chris-Tel Corp. for construction services for the $3.2 million construction project. The work is expected to be completed in midyear 2022.
