The NCH Healthcare System has received certification as a Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center from the Joint Commission in coordination with the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association. The designation makes NCH the one and only Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center in Southwest Florida, the health care system states. The Joint Commission accredits more than 22,000 U.S. health care organizations and programs. As a Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center, NCH has been recognized for providing a standardized and evidence-based approach to treating stroke patients and offers the community a dedicated stroke unit. NCH has been recognized as having the tools to perform mechanical thrombectomy, a minimally invasive surgical procedure to remove a blood clot from an artery.
