Motor City-style square slices are available now at the Detroit Pizza Joint, which recently took over the Chicago Beef, Dogs & Pizza space at 3812 Skyline Blvd. in Cape Coral.
Owner Todd Stern plans a capital investment in new pizza ovens to eventually enable his pizzeria to bake whole square pies.
Meanwhile, Pi Local Pizza, a brick oven pizzeria, is opening soon near the recently launched Publix supermarket at Babcock Ranch’s Crescent B Commons retail center. The new business is locally owned by Bethany Hunt, a second-generation restaurateur and Pittsburgh transplant who built a home in Babcock Ranch.
Next summer, Mellow Mushroom, a stone-baked pizza chain, plans a third Lee County location at Gator Mike’s Family Fun Park on Pine Island Road in Cape Coral.
