REALTOR ASSEMBLY SET FOR JUNE

The 2019 Southwest Florida Women’s Business Summit, organized by the Lee County Economic Development Office, will begin with registration and networking at 8 a.m. on March 1 at Florida SouthWestern State College in Fort Myers. A presentation delivered by keynote speaker Mary Van Praag, brand president of Soma Intimates, will take place at 9:15 a.m. The event is intended to educate and elevate women in their careers through hands-on and motivational workshop sessions. NATIONAL SHOW TO FEATURE PARADISE COAST
Florida’s Paradise Coast will be featured in an episode of the PBS series Samantha Brown’s Places to Love. The show airs nationally on PBS stations and will air locally at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday on WGCU. The show is the result of the Naples, Marco Island, Everglades Convention and Visitors Bureau working with the travel expert and her production team during their visit to the destination in 2018.
WGCU is hosting a special sneak preview event featuring Samantha Brown (pictured left) in person at 6 p.m. on Thursday, at the Hyatt House in Naples. General admission is $90, and $130 includes a meet-and-greet with Brown following the screening. Tickets can be purchased here.

REPORT: FLORIDIANS WITH DISABILITIES EXPERIENCE TOP JOB GAINS
Floridians with disabilities experienced the biggest jobs gains of any state in 2018, with 23,953 people with disabilities entering the workforce, according to The Disability Statistics Compendium, released by Institute on Disability at the University of New Hampshire and analyzed by RespectAbility. The employment rate for people ages 18 to 64 with disabilities has risen to 37 percent in the U.S., the report also shows, compared with 77.2 percent for people without disabilities. CHARLOTTE COUNTY TOURIST DEVELOPMENT TAX COLLECTIONS UP IN DECEMBER
Charlotte County Tourist Development Tax revenues collected during December 2018 totaled $323, 076. This reflects a 2.12 percent increase over December 2017 collections of $316, 367. Occupancy—a percentage based on the total number of rooms occupied—was down 10 percent for the same timeframe. However, Charlotte County welcomed new accommodations in 2018, which resulted in a 14 percent increase in the hotel rooms surveyed. For more information, visit PureFlorida.com.
