MARCO ISLAND HOME SALES UP FOR AUGUST
Annual sales of single-family homes in Marco Island were up 9.27% from 388 measured in August 2019 to 424 measured in August 2020, according to a news release. Closed sales for the month of August increased by 48.65% in a year-over-year comparison. Pending sales were up by 109.09%, the news release also shows. August inventory was down by 48.35% in a year-over-year comparison. Annual sales for condominiums in Marco Island were up by 0.42%, and closed sales for the month of August were up by 21.43%. AVE MARIA REPORTS ANOTHER RECORD-SETTING MONTH FOR NEW HOME SALES
Ave Maria in Collier County continues to set sales records with its best month ever, reporting 60 new home sales in August. Home sales more than doubled month over month for August and 24 new homes were reported in the first week of September, according to Cee Cee Marinelli, director of development for Ave Maria. Announcing 309 new home sales year-to-date, the master-planned community has already surpassed its total sales for the entirety of 2019. Home sales were reported from the four residential builders in Ave Maria—CC Homes, Del Webb Naples, Lennar and Pulte Homes. At its build-out, the town will include up to 11,000 residences, and 1.7 million square feet of retail, office and business park uses in its 4,000 acres.
HEATHERWOOD CONSTRUCTION BREAKS GROUND ON SPORTS CENTER AT WILDBLUE
Heatherwood Construction Co. has begun construction on a 13,800-square-foot, state-of-art Sports Center at WildBlue. WildBlue is a 3,500-plus-acre community which features 1,100 preserve and sparkling-lake surrounded home sites located off Corkscrew Road, just east of I-75. The Sports Center includes an exercise room, an aerobics room, a pro shop, a salon and an outdoor bar on the gathering terrace. The project is led by the Bonita-Springs-based team’s senior project manager, Rafael Valdes, as well as supervised by Wade Smallwood. The Sports Center was designed by award-winning Humphrey-Rosal Architects.
D.R. HORTON PURCHASES HOMESITES IN ROYAL PALM
D.R. Horton Southwest Florida has purchased approximately 70 homesites in Royal Palm Golf Estates — a gated community planned for 343 single-family, all-age-inspired homes. The community is located on U.S. 41, six miles southeast of Collier Boulevard and minutes from Olde Naples and Marco Island. D.R. Horton is offering five open-concept, one-story floor plans in Royal Palm, ranging from 2,197 to 2,540 square feet and priced from the low $400,000s to the mid $500,000s. The floor plans offered include three to four bedrooms, two to three-and-a-half resort-style bathrooms, and a three-car garage. Scheduled to open this fall, the Shelby model home offers 2,221 square feet of living space. In addition to the Shelby model, three homes are also underway and scheduled to be move-in ready later this fall.

LEE COMMISSIONERS APPROVE PURCHASE OF 14 ACRES ALONG CALOOSAHATCHEE RIVER
The Lee Board of County Commissioners on Tuesday voted to approve the purchase of 14 acres of riverfront land in Olga for Conservation 20/20. The property is located adjacent to Olga Shores Preserve to the west and south, the Caloosahatchee River to the north and Linwood Avenue to the east. The parcel is one of the few remaining undeveloped Caloosahatchee riverfront tracts of land with dense oak hammocks and pristine vegetation. The purchase price is more than $1 million, plus closing costs. In other action Tuesday, the board voted to authorize staff to pursue the purchase of an additional five parcels totaling more than 200 acres for Conservation 20/20. Any proposed purchase of those parcels will be brought back before the board for consideration. MK ARCHITECTURE ANNOUNCES CONSTRUCTION OF GOODWILL SWFL FACILITY
MK Architecture has announced the start of construction of Goodwill’s newest Southwest Florida facility, with 36,000 square feet of retail space to be located within Egret’s Crossing at the corner of Davis Boulevard and Santa Barbara Boulevard in Naples. Civil drawings were completed by Grady Minor, structural engineering was provided by JPI Structures Inc., and the Electrical drawings were completed by Pistocchi Engineering. MK Architecture’s client, Faller Development, selected GLR Inc. for the build phase of the project, which is anticipated to be completed by early spring 2021.
TOOJAY’S DELI PERMANENTLY CLOSES AT MERCATO IN NORTH NAPLES
TooJay’s Deli has permanently closed its North Naples restaurant in Mercato as well as four other locations in Florida as it emerged last week from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The company’s debt restructuring process and implementation of a Chapter 11 reorganization plan allowed it to emerge debt-free, which it believes will provide significant financial flexibility to support its operations. Chicago-based Monroe Capital, the new owner of the 39-year-old restaurant company, is providing capital to support growth in the business going forward, according to a news release. Famous for piled-high sandwiches and made-from-scratch soups, TooJay’s opened in March 2019 in the former space of Stage Deli at Mercato, the mixed-use development at U.S. 41 North and Vanderbilt Beach Road. In addition to the North Naples restaurant, TooJay’s closed locations in Fort Lauderdale, Sarasota, Waterford Lakes and the Villages. TooJay’s, which started in West Palm Beach in 1981, still operates more than 20 locations along Florida’s east coast and in the Orlando area.
SEAGATE DEVELOPMENT CONTINUES WORK ON SCOTLYNN HQ
Seagate Development Group is just weeks away from the panel tilt-up and structural steel components of Scotlynn USA Division Inc.’s North American corporate headquarters. The multinational transportation and logistics firm broke ground last month at 9597 Gulf Research Lane in Fort Myers. Crews have poured the slab and casting pads to form wall panels and ultimately connect structural steel. By the end of this year, Seagate is slated to top off the third deck of the Scotlynn headquarters as well as begin interior construction and an industrial-feel design of the first, second and third floors. As the three-story, 60,000-square-foot headquarters nears completion in 2021, leaders will hire at least 140 people for management and operations positions. Contributing to the mission of world-class freight transportation, workers will conduct business in a fully amenitized facility. Features include a gym, basketball court, cafeteria, walking track, and an indoor/outdoor recreational space with an eating area.
