Forbes named four Southwest Floridians in its list of America’s wealthiest people.

Single-family and multifamily permits went up in Lee County last month. Contractors in September pulled 118 permits to build single-family houses collectively valued at more than $29 million unincorporated Lee County, according to the Lee County Department of Community Development. That compares with 81 permits in August and 88 in September 2014.

The boards of the Cape Coral Association of Realtors and the Realtors Association of Greater Fort Myers and the Beach have agreed to unite the two organizations into one association, pending approval of their memberships in accordance with each association’s bylaws. The merger would bring the joint membership number to approximately 6,000 members and would offer increased access to education and trained staff, in addition to reducing direct costs. Members of both parties can vote from Oct. 17 to 26.

The final five nominees were selected for the 21st annual Southwest Florida Blue Chip Community Business Award. They are: Gwendolyn’s Café and Catering Company, Jennifer’s Boutique, A Touch of Class Pet Grooming Inc., Rumours Hair Design and Accounting for Profitability LLC. Restaurant sales volume in Lee County increased 10.7 percent over 2014 figures, according to the Investment Properties Corporation of Naples 2015 Restaurant Statistics. Collier County restaurant sales volume increased 9.5 percent.

Bob Rosier succeeded Scott Duval as Bonita Springs Area Chamber of Commerce board of directors chairman on Oct. 1.
