Costco is planning a major move in Fort Myers, doubling parking and land while increasing store size. The new location near Colonial Boulevard aims to improve access, ease congestion and serve a wider Southwest Florida customer base.
Costco has paid $55 million for a 55-acre site near Colonial Boulevard, Plantation Road and Metro Parkway in Fort Myers. The deal ranks among the highest prices for commercial land in the area and could pave the way for a new store and outparcel development.
Costco reached an agreement with Esplanade at Hacienda Lakes residents on traffic, safety and landscaping concessions for its planned East Naples store, avoiding a legal fight after months of opposition.
Costco cleared a major hurdle in East Naples. Despite strong neighborhood opposition, Collier County commissioners unanimously approved plans for the retailer’s new store and gas station at Collier Boulevard and Rattlesnake Hammock Road.
