B. Pat, Signing Out

BERNARD PATRICK O’ROURKE, or B. Pat as he is more commonly known in Southwest Florida, has decided to retire after spending more than 20 years helping spur growth in our region. The 74-yearold Georgetown native has served as business development specialist for Lee County’s Economic Development Office, and liaison to the Horizon Council and Horizon Foundation Inc. “I’ve had a wonderful run here,” says the Cape Coral resident. “I really treasure the relationships I’ve had over the years.” Before moving here in 1994, B. Pat lived and worked in the Washington D.C. area, including at the Greater Washington board of trade. Beginning Sept. 1, he will concentrate his effort on volunteer work. And he’s looking for invitations. He says he can be reached at (571) 502-2065 or bpatorourke@comcast.net. “I want to see where I can be of service to the community.”

An Officer And A Gentleman

WHEN WE LET PETER CUDERMAN know he was chosen as a 2016 40-under- 40 nominee, he told us that he couldn’t make any of our photo shoots during the summer, and he had a good excuse. For 10 weeks, the Fort Myers resident would be on deployment for the United States Marine Corps. Peter, who is the chief strategy officer at Tri-Town Construction, went to Quantico to attend Officer Candidate School. The physical training “was way worse” than boot camp, he says. “The hills were just brutal.” It paid off, though. He is now a second lieutenant. He had previously served as a Marine Corps reservist, but decided to pursue a spot as a judge advocate. Peter has an undergraduate degree in legal studies and a Master of Business Administration from Florida Gulf Coast University. He’s enrolled at Mitchell Hamline School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota. He expects to complete his law degree in two years, go through officer training and then serve as a judge advocate for four years, finishing up at the ripe old age of 31.
