Amid supply-chain breakdowns during the pandemic and the impacts of inflation, the price of building supplies increased 41.2% across the U.S. since 2019, according to a study from freight broker Twister Nail LLC using data from the U.S. Geological Survey’s Mineral Commodity Summaries. Supplies costs reached their peak in June 2022, demonstrating a 44.5% increase from 2019 before falling slightly in the last two years. In Florida, building costs show a 15% overall change in aggregate prices from 2019 to 2022, as well as 15% and 16.8% increases in crushed stone prices and sand and gravel prices, respectively. In the U.S., construction aggregate prices climbed 15.8% from 2019 to 2022.
