Cape Coral City Council hosted its first public hearing last week on the planned Cape Coral Grove mixed-used development in the northwest part of the city. City officials said the project, which is planned for a 131-acre lot on Pine Island Road between Chiquita Boulevard and Burn Store Road, is expected to have a $1.3 billion economic impact. The current project plan features various retail spaces, entertainment venues, a hotel and luxury apartments and townhomes. The second and final public hearing is scheduled for Aug. 7.
