Investors funneled more than $563 million into Florida’s self-storage market in 2024, according to a report from listing platform StorageCafe. Cape Coral was ranked 10th in self-storage sales in the U.S. with $29 million across 222,000 square feet, averaging $132 per square foot. Cape Coral City Council enacted a one-year moratorium on accepting applications for new self-storage facilities in April 2024. Fort Myers posted a sales volume of $11.45 million over 89,250 square feet, and North Fort Myers had $7 million in sales over 106,765 square feet. Miami led the state with more than $77 million in deals, ranking third nationally behind only Queens, New York, and Cerritos, California.
