Florida’s citrus industry ended the 2024-25 season with its lowest output in more than a century, the Department of Agriculture reported. Just 14.52 million boxes were produced — down 28.5% from last year and 75% from five years ago — due to citrus greening, hurricanes and development pressure. Orange production fell 33%, while grapefruit and tangerines saw similar declines. State lawmakers approved $124.5 million in aid in the 2025-26 budget, including $100 million for disease-resistant trees and grove rehabilitation.
