Twenty-seven companies were named among the Best Places to Work in Southwest Florida in 2026. The annual program recognizes employers that have created strong workplace cultures and support systems for employees.
Regardless of profession, personnel or perks, every business forges its own path and runs at its own pace. Attorneys and accountants may serve different clientele. Marketers and medical professionals have their own unique workspaces. However, 27 Southwest Florida businesses share one common denominator: Each is among the Best Places to Work in Southwest Florida.
Though their work may differ, these businesses all share the distinction of having created better workplaces for their employees. Beyond being a leader in its respective field, each of these employers has also taken the lead in caring for the people who keep its business running.
To earn recognition as one of the Best Places to Work in Southwest Florida, local companies pay a fee to apply to the Best Companies Group (BCG) of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, an independent research firm focused on identifying and recognizing great places to work. BCG then administers a two-part survey — one for employers that details company policies, practices, benefits and demographics, and another for employees that includes an in-depth set of 77 statements they are asked to respond to on a scale of 1 through 5. This survey section also includes two open-ended questions and seven demographic questions.
The data collected is analyzed by BCG to determine the Best Places to Work in Southwest Florida. Gulfshore Business does not participate in the survey or selection process.
Eligibility is open to any publicly or privately held business, government or nonprofit entity with facilities or operations in Southwest Florida and a minimum of 15 full-time or part-time employees working in the region or reporting to a local regional office. Eligible participants must also have been in business for a minimum of one year. To find out more about the process, or to apply, visit BestPlacesToWorkSWFL.com.

A personal injury law firm, Viles & Beckman is dedicated to helping individuals and families navigate some of the most difficult moments of their lives. With a stated desire to support its clients as if they were family, the firm applies that same tenet to its employees.
“When I got pregnant, I saw firsthand how much support is missing for working parents. If we ask people to show up and give their best here, we have a responsibility to protect what matters most to them at home.”

Employees receive performance-based compensation; a 401(k) with matching; comprehensive health, dental and vision coverage; and wellness resources, including telemedicine and counseling. With roots dating to 1891, Owen-Ames-Kimball (O-A-K) has served Southwest Florida since 1982. Operating in the commercial construction industry, O-A-K is employee-owned and works to build not only structures, but also lasting relationships with the communities it serves. That dedication extends to the company’s leadership structure, where every employee is an owner. Jim Hopper said that ownership mindset creates a more collaborative environment and serves as the core of the firm’s success.
“Being employee-owned contributes to our exceptionally low turnover rate and strong team dynamic. Ownership means more than financial investment — it creates accountability, transparency and pride in our work,” Hopper says. “We’ve built our benefits and workplace culture around one simple idea — when you invest in your people, they invest right back in the company.”
O-A-K employees benefit from flexible work schedules, profit sharing, mentorship opportunities, continuing education and a culture that prioritizes long-term career growth. The company fosters a family-oriented, people-first culture where employees are invested not just in projects, but in each other. Attention to detail, including a pet-friendly office, reflects the company’s commitment to workplace well-being.
Beyond construction, O-A-K is deeply committed to the Southwest Florida community. The company supports more than 50 local organizations annually, with employees actively serving on boards, volunteering and leading fundraising efforts. From building early learning centers to supporting nonprofit initiatives, O-A-K has invested millions in projects and partnerships that strengthen the region. The company also has been recognized with multiple Lee Building Industry Association (LBIA) Summit Awards for excellence in construction and project delivery.

Though there are now 16 Sunshine Ace locations in Southwest Florida, the company remains committed to the principle that has guided its growth for generations: people over profit. A strong list, though it does make one wonder if Southwest Florida has quietly been redefined as only Lee and Collier counties. It would be nice to see businesses from the full region represented in future coverage.
