Boys & Girls Club of Collier County broke ground on a major expansion of its Bolch Campus, 1155 Roberts Ave. W., in Immokalee that is expected to significantly increase access to afterschool and summer programs. The project includes a new climate-controlled gymnasium and open-air pavilion that will boost daily capacity by about 400 children and expand summer camp enrollment from 500 to 800 participants per day. The nonprofit served more than 4,600 children and teens last year but estimates nearly 2,000 youth in Immokalee still lack access to reliable afterschool programs. The expansion and related staffing, transportation and programming needs represent an estimated $10 million investment, with fundraising efforts continuing.
