Cape Coral has been awarded $4,041,984 through Florida’s Alternative Water Supply Grant Program to support reclaimed water infrastructure and expand alternative water supplies. The funding will help the city conserve potable water by increasing the use of treated wastewater for irrigation. City officials will work with the state to determine which eligible infrastructure improvements will receive funding. Cape Coral is among 22 cities selected for grants through the program. The award is part of $100 million in state funding announced by Gov. Ron DeSantis for 45 projects statewide through the Alternative Water Supply and Springs Restoration grant programs. The funding covers fiscal year 2026-27.
