Clips for Cancer united the community Sept. 20 at Bell Tower Shops, raising $130,000 during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month to support young patients at Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida. Childhood cancer survivors and patients shaved the heads of local supporters to show solidarity with those undergoing chemotherapy. The fundraiser also featured family-friendly activities, including games, animal encounters, first responder demonstrations and tours of the sensory-friendly Golisano Ambulance. Donations will continue through September to benefit Barbara’s Friends, which provides equipment, staffing and services for pediatric oncology care at Golisano. The program, the only one of its kind in Southwest Florida, has treated more than 12,000 children since opening in 1995. For more information, click here.
