The existing Costco warehouse on Cypress Lake Drive in south Fort Myers could remain open and potentially be converted into a business center, though plans are not finalized.
Costco plans to open its first Cape Coral warehouse at 600 Chiquita Blvd. S., at the northwest corner of Pine Island Road and Chiquita Boulevard in northwest Cape Coral. The proposed development includes an approximately 165,000-square-foot warehouse and members-only gas station. Cape Coral City Council is scheduled to consider an incentive package Nov. 2 that could provide up to $10 million toward site development costs and impact fees. The store would give Cape Coral residents an alternative to Costco locations in Fort Myers. An opening date has not been announced, and the construction timeline remains undetermined.
